Things are about to get interesting in Magic Kingdom!
TRON Lightcycle / Run is opening on April 4th (but will soft open before that) and the fireworks shows are changing. But there’s something else you’ll want to be aware of when visiting the park.
When TRON opens up, it’ll be available via Individual Lightning Lane (pay-per-ride). You might be wondering if that’ll impact the other ride that offers an Individual Lightning Lane in the park currently — Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
Currently, things have been arranged so that each Disney World park only has 1 ride available through Individual Lightning Lane (with most of the rest available through the standard Genie+ service). And we’ve seen rides that were previously available via pay-per-ride swap to the standard Genie+ service before.
But according to Scott Gustin (shared via Twitter), the introduction of an Individual Lightning Lane at TRON Lightcycle / Run will NOT change the Individual Lightning Lane situation at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
From March 20th through April 2nd, TRON will soft open to the public via virtual queue and Individual Lightning Lane. It’ll then officially open on April 4th via virtual queue and Individual Lightning Lane.
But Individual Lightning Lanes for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train WILL still be available for purchase when TRON soft opens from March 20th through April 2nd, and they will continue to be available after TRON opens on April 4th.
Could this change in the future? Anything is possible! But for now, it seems Individual Lightning Lanes will available for purchase for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train AND TRON Lightcycle / Run simultaneously.
Keep in mind that when TRON soft opens from March 20th through April 2nd, and after it officially opens on April 4th, it will only be available to ride via virtual queue or Individual Lightning Lane (a.k.a. there will not be a standby line).
Remember that you can only buy a maximum of 2 Individual Lightning Lanes (pay-per-ride) per person per day.
And if you’re wondering if the virtual queue at Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will go away once the virtual queue for TRON goes online, it will NOT. Virtual queues will exist for both rides simultaneously.
If you want to experience TRON for yourself, be sure to grab your Park Pass for Magic Kingdom NOW for the ride’s soft opening period or for a day following the ride’s official opening. And make sure you’ve got your My Disney Experience account fully set up and ready to go!
