One thing we know Disney loves to do? Use its theme parks to promote upcoming movies.

We often see new merchandise collections, limited-time character meet-and-greets, and special snacks dropped in the parks for movie releases. But recently, Disney World put an overlay on TRON Lightcycle / Run to celebrate the TRON: Ares release!
To celebrate the release of the third TRON movie, the popular Magic Kingdom ride got a new lighting overlay and music from Nine Inch Nails. The overlay has been in place since September 2025, but as of Tuesday, January 20th, it’s gone.

Today, TRON Lightcycle / Run is officially back to normal. The attraction has its usual blue vs. orange lighting, and the original score is playing for the ride once again. No part of the ride track changed during the overlay, so that’s the same as well.

If you’re hoping to ride TRON Lightcycle / Run, just know that it’s one of the park’s most popular rides. To avoid the long wait, you can purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass for this attraction, or you could rope drop it first thing in the morning. It’s important to note that TRON is NOT available during Early Theme Park Entry, though you could wait outside the attraction during that time to be among the first in line.

TRON isn’t the only ride in Tomorrowland getting some changes recently, either. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is currently under refurbishment to get updated blasters, interactive targets, and a new ride scene. Also, Carousel of Progress is set to get an update to its opening scene, featuring a new animatronic of Walt Disney.

We’ll make sure to keep you in the loop with any other changes in Magic Kingdom — there’s a lot going on in that park these days!
