Really, the construction doesn’t stop throughout ALL of Disney World. Splash Mountain is already being rethemed to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, EPCOT has new additions in its parking lot, and construction on EPCOT’s Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is coming along nicely — check out the latest updates here!

For those not familiar with it, this Moana-inspired attraction is a walk-through experience that is meant to let guests play with and interact with water throughout its cycle from the sky to the oceans and back. You can see our DEEP dive into the concept art for this attraction here.

Now, let’s get to those construction updates! The walls around parts of the attraction continue to be built up, separating it from the other construction. Right now, the grey walls do give a VERY different vibe from the natural feel meant to be captured by the attraction, so we’re interested to see how the Imagineers are going to blend these walls into the attraction as a whole!

The walls are getting higher!

We’re also seeing more trees within and around the area, seemingly blocking some of the walls around part of the attraction. Once again — how will this all blend together once complete? We’ll have to wait and see!

Look at all the trees!

There are also various palm trees right in the middle of the attraction! Each of these really adds to the tropical and natural feel of the concept art.

It also looks like part of the attraction is getting ready for a more defined pathway, which has been a long time coming.

Maybe we’ll see cement soon!

We’re still seeing a decent amount of orange construction mesh walls around parts of the attraction, as well as dirt still being moved around. So things still have a ways to go before they’ll be anywhere close to complete.

Looking good!

There are also some shorter walls all around parts of the attraction, indicating where certain sections will end — those are coming together well with more detail on the rockwork around them.

We love seeing this attraction come to life, and we make sure to check on its progress constantly. Remember that Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is set to open in “late” 2023, but no set opening date has been announced yet.
