Splash Mountain permanently closed in Disney World earlier this week to get reimagined into a ride based on The Princess and the Frog.
Disney has wasted NO time in starting the work on the new ride — we saw construction beginning on it the DAY AFTER Splash Mountain closed. Now, we’re seeing even more progress being made on the new attraction.
Okay, so Splash Mountain has already been changed on the Magic Kingdom park map — where the ride sits, there’s now a designation that it will become Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, set to open in 2024. Construction walls are also now up with “Southern Dome Salt Company.” on it, which is part of the Tiana’s storyline for the attraction.
The story of the ride begins with guests learning about Tiana’s new business endeavor, Tiana’s Foods. Tiana has acquired the Salt Dome (aka, the mountain), so this signage on the walls is alluding to that.
Today, we hopped on over to see the latest construction update. It’s been a while since we’ve seen this queue completely empty.
More importantly, though, we noticed that the windows on the previous ride are now covered up.
We also noticed some construction blocks nearby. It’s really happening! Work for the new attraction is underway.
As we mentioned, though, we’ll have to wait a while to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure until 2024, but we’ll continue to keep you updated on the progress, so stay tuned to AllEars for more!
