8 Disney World Closures to Plan for This Week

Disney’s Imagineers and construction team have been pretty busy lately! There’s been some ride testing, a Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind update, and some major progress on the Connections Cafe project. While construction is great for new projects, it can be a nuisance, too! Luckily, our weekly refurbishment update fills you in on all the current refurbishments in Disney World so you know exactly what to expect.

Let’s rock ‘n’ roll!

Let’s take a look at everything that will be closed in Disney World from March 28th to April 3rd, 2022.

Magic Kingdom Refurbishments

Walt Disney World Railroad

The Walt Disney World Railroad is a classic Disney attraction that takes guests all around the Magic Kingdom. Unfortunately, the train is currently unavailable. In fact, the attraction has been closed for a while, and it will remain closed while Disney works on its new TRON roller coaster. Currently, TRON construction is blocking a portion of the train tracks, so the train is closed for now.

We miss the train!

We’re still waiting on an official opening date for TRON: Lightcycle Run, but we’ll continue to look for updates. The good news is that we recently noticed ride testing on both TRON: Lightcycle Run and the Walt Disney World Railroad!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Refurbishments

Expedition Everest

Expedition Everest — Legend of the Forbidden Mountain at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is also unavailable for now. This thrilling attraction is in the middle of a long-term refurbishment, and it’s been closed since early January. Disney previously stated that the refurbishment is expected to take about 3 months.

No train, no yeti *sigh*

The closure is expected to last through mid-April 2022, though Disney has not shared a specific opening date yet. We’ll let you know when we learn more!

EPCOT Refurbishments

Souk-Al-Magreb

The Morocco pavilion, located in the EPCOT World Showcase, has some incredible architecture! The pavilion also features a small gift shop called Souk-Al-Magreb, though currently, the shop is closed with no official reopening date.

Souk-Al-Magreb is closed

The store was originally set to open back in February of 2022, but Disney extended the closure indefinitely. While Disney has not shared any details on when this store will reopen, we did notice that operating hours are listed starting on April 24th, 2022. We’ll keep our eyes out for more information!

Disney World Water Park Refurbishments

Blizzard Beach Waterpark

Water parks are the perfect place to escape the heat while still experiencing the Disney magic! Unfortunately, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is still closed for refurbishments.

Blizzard Beach

Disney’s other water park, Typhoon Lagoon, is still open, though! Starting this summer, guests will even be able to visit the park for a special After Hours event! Disney has not announced a reopening date for Blizzard Beach yet, but we’ll look out for an update.

The Disney World website states that during this time, guests may see and hear active construction, though most hotel amenities will remain available throughout the construction project. The rooms should be ready by late June 2022.
