Hello to all our AllEars Readers! We hope the New Year is treating you well!

Although things are a little quiet on the Disney front right now, we still have plenty of news to share with you from this week, just in case you might have missed the biggest stories. So let’s get on with it!
Typhoon Lagoon Has Reopened
When Disney World reopened in 2020, its water parks did not reopen with it. Blizzard Beach did eventually reopen in March 2021, but it is now closed for refurbishment. In the meantime, Disney World’s other water park, Typhoon Lagoon has reopened.

We were there on Typhoon Lagoon’s reopening day, checking it out, along with checking out some fun new DOLE Whip snacks. So if you’re looking to get a water park day into your next Disney World trip, you’ll need to head to Typhoon Lagoon.

Disney World Power Outage
According to Fox 35 Orlando, a power outage occurred at Disney World on January 4th that impacted the monorail, ferryboats, and several Magic Kingdom-area hotels. It reportedly started around 6PM, but guests reported that the power was back on by 10PM.

Keep in mind that if this happens while you’re staying at Disney World, bus transportation will be made available if the monorail, ferryboats, and Skyliner are down.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure To End Use Virtual Queues
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in the France Pavilion at EPCOT has been using a virtual queue system since it opened last year. When Disney Genie and Genie+ debuted at the parks, the attraction was also available as a pay-per-ride selection (or Individual Attraction Selection) through the service. However, the virtual queue system, which required a boarding pass acquired at either 7AM or 1PM via the My Disney Experience app, is going away as of January 10th.

Instead, guests will be able to access the ride via a Standby line or by purchasing the Individual Attraction Selection fee to access the Lighting Lane.

Expedition Everest Closes For Lengthy Refurbishment
One of the most popular rides at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Expedition Everest, has officially closed for at least three months for a refurbishment. The entrance is now closed off to guests with construction walls blocking the queue area.

You can still visit the gift shop there, though, if you have a craving for Yeti merchandise.

Grad Night To Return To Disneyland
Every spring, high school seniors descend upon Disneyland Resort to celebrate graduation at an event called Grad Night. However, due to the global pandemic, the event hasn’t occurred in the past two years. It will return in 2022, though, across sixteen days in May and June including May 13th, 14th, 18th, 20th, 21st, 25th, 26th and 31st, and June 1st, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 10th, 11th, and 17th. Each Grad Nite event will take place from 9PM to 2AM in Disney California Adventure.

While some grad attendees may not be able to attend the event until it starts, they also have a ticket option to spend all day at the parks. So if you’re planning on visiting Disneyland during those days, keep in mind that the resort may be busy.
