As we gear up for Disney World’s big 50th Anniversary Celebration, we’re still trying to keep up with all the news coming out of the parks and the company.

And although it’s been a relatively quiet week, we’ve still got some news that you might have missed this week.
So let’s get to it!

In addition, Main Street Confectionery will also have Mobile Order available when it reopens. We’ll take a Caramel Apple to go!

Space 220 Opening
The highly-anticipated Space 220 Restaurant at EPCOT has officially opened, and we were there with a first look. The restaurant features a “space elevator” that takes you to a space station way above the Earth where guests can dine on “out-of-this-world” fare.

So if you’ve ever wanted to eat in space, you can either try for an advance dining reservation or get in line to access the Space 220 Lounge.

Rise of the Resistance Line Switches To Standby
This week also saw the end of boarding groups on Rise of the Resistance at in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Earlier this week, the line switched to standby-only, and we saw some pretty long lines, although we’ve seen the wait time posted as low as 60 minutes.

Guests will have a chance to bypass the line for this attraction when Disney Genie launches with the Individual Attraction Selection service.

I am very disappointed with Genie/Genie+/Genie$$$ replacing fast passes. This is clearly a new revenue stream for Disney, not an improvement of their customer experience. When I think of booking a trip, I think of this and drop the idea.
