We’ve seen queue markers stretch out pretty far from the entrances of certain rides in order to prepare for and accommodate long lines.

Due to social distancing requirements in Disney World, people can’t just crowd together in a tightly packed line like they used to, so lines can stretch on for quite some distance — like the Slinky Dog Dash overflow queue markers in the photo above that go all the way down by Voyage of the Little Mermaid.
Today, as we made our way around Magic Kingdom, we stopped by Splash Mountain, but quickly realized the line didn’t start anywhere near the entrance to the attraction. Instead, we followed the line of people all the way past Splash Mountain and toward Adventureland, and that’s where we finally found the Cast Member holding the “Line Starts Here” sign.

WOW! That’s quite the line! It stretched all the way past Golden Oak Outpost.

The line at Splash Mountain is sometimes halted so that Cast Members can sanitize the ride vehicles, so that may have held up the line for a bit. Also, because guests are meant to be socially distanced in line, lines can sometimes stretch out well past where we’re used to seeing them.

When we spotted this lengthy line, it was around 3PM ET. The wait time for Splash Mountain around 3:30PM was about 70 minutes when we checked. Yesterday, at around 3PM, the wait time for Splash was 55 minutes, and the day before that, the wait time at 3PM was 65 minutes. So, always be sure to check the wait times on the My Disney Experience app before deciding which attraction to visit next, and be prepared to face some longer lines at this ride in the early afternoon.

I have been disappointed this week with such long lines! Before we came. They were saying lines were 5, 10 or 15 minutes long. An hour or hour and a half is too long to wait in this heat and humidity. I’ve also been disappointed that there are no trams from the parking lot! Too far in this heat when you are 70 years old!!
God Bless the Parents who are standing on line with hot, sweaty, whiny kids. This is fun, right??
