Behind the Scenes Peek of New Lightning McQueen Attraction!

Disney Channel and the DisneyNOW App will debut a special “Disney Parks Presents a 25 Days of Christmas Holiday Party” on December 1 at 8 p.m. EST.  This special is jam-packed with Disney Channel stars plus a behind-the-scenes peek at the new Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy attraction coming to Disney World‘s Hollywood Studios!

This half-hour special features appearances and performances from favorite Disney Channel stars as well as more information about the  all-new, high-octane attraction coming to Hollywood StudiosSunset Showcase in Spring 2019.

Details for Lightning McQueen Racing Academy Revealed

Guests will be taking on the role of rookie racer as they enter the theater and find themselves face-to-face with Lightning McQueen, appearing live on stage. Plus, McQueen and the entire audience will be enveloped by a giant, wraparound screen that is nearly two stories tall and stretches more than 200 feet from end to end, pulling everyone into the action!

McQueen is anxious to showcase what he’s learned over the years. But, things don’t always go according to plan, and he has to think fast to get back on course. Friends like Tow Mater, Cruz Ramirez and Lightning’s pals from Radiator Springs chime in with their support, as Lightning gears up for the challenge.

Disney Parks Live Entertainment is working closely with the creative team at Pixar Animation Studios to bring this new “Cars” story to life.

The special also features appearances and performances from favorite Disney Channel stars, including hosts Ruby Rose Turner, Dakota Lotus (Disney Channel’s “Coop & Cami Ask the World”), Kylee Russell, Meg Donnelly (Disney Channel Original Movie “ZOMBIES”) Sadie Stanley (Disney Channel Original Movie “Kim Possible”) and Sean Giambrone (Disney Channel Original Movie “Kim Possible,” ABC’s “The Goldbergs”).

    1. Hi Vicki,

      I haven’t seen any official opening date yet — just that the show will open “early next year,” so I think you’ll just miss it, unless it opens sooner. We’ll report the date as soon as we hear it.

  1. I just dont get the whole Cars fascination. Or mechanical cartoon characters. There is just nothing enduring about characters that rust or bleed petrol based liquids (except the Tin Man, of course. And even as kids, we all knew he was really just a human with spray paint. FYI- I tried it and discovered the childhood joy of a warm turpentine bath).
