Tips about PhotoPass

I traveled with a group of 14 this past June. We ended up with three sets of photos to view. Don't buy three CDs of pictures; just email Guest Services and tell them the email addresses and passwords that were used, and all the PhotoPass numbers. They will set up one site and you'll be able to order one CD of pictures. This process took us two weeks to complete with emails to Guest Services and questions for us to answer, but it was well worth the savings. Guest Services will extend the expiration dates of passes so you won't lose any pictures. Always contact Guest Services when in question about anything, as they really do help. - Karen

Regarding that tip about not being able to combine PhotoPass cards, you can, but they all have to be uploaded onto one account. So the reader who shared that tip could have gotten all of her photos on one CD had all the different cards been uploaded onto one account, rather than each family member making their own account. - Justine Annucci-Bonomolo

Twenty-four members of our family just returned from a wonderful 10-day trip to the World. We accumulated 15 (no exaggeration!) PhotoPass cards along the way. Because we are all related, we just whipped out any old card whenever one was needed, not keeping track of whose card was whose. The problem arose when we returned home and the three of us who ended up with cards in our possession decided to upload the photos. To our dismay, we could share photos with each other but not combine our PhotoPasses onto one CD. This meant purchasing three CDs at $125 each in order to have all my own kids' pictures. The lesson: keep your own family's photos on your own card(s) so you can get them all on one CD when you return home. - Melanie Deware

After finding out that the picture packages they bring to your table at some of the character meals have the PhotoPass number on the back, we asked the cast member who brought them to us if we could get the number. The first meal of our trip the cast member said that you had to purchase them. The second meal the cast member let us in on a great tip -- all you have to do is go to one of the PhotoPass stores and tell them the date and approximate time of your event and they can get that picture and put it onto your PhotoPass CD! I think this is great for those of us who plan to buy the CD and don't want to spend extra money on the packages they bring to the tables. We went to the PhotoPass spot in Epcot -- it took a little searching in the system but the pictures from 'Ohana and Chef Mickey's were added to our CD! - Kat Garcia

Here's a tip for parents booking a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Castle Package for their child: The costumes they have on hand that come with the package go up to a snug size 10 (child's). My 11-year-old (she turned 11 the day after the Boutique package) couldn't even come close to fitting in a costume, and was very disappointed as her two siblings could pick anything they wanted. After we were there, I was told they can get any size, including adult sizes, if you request in advance. Had I known this, it would have been much more magical. I would still recommend this package to anyone with girls -- those pictures and the memories are absolutely priceless and we will cherish them forever. Another tip: The pictures are included on your Disney PhotoPass, and you can purchase a CD with ALL your pictures from your trip for just $99, which then belong to you (copyright release included). - Tammy K.

Be sure to look at your pictures taken by the PhotoPass photographers at least 90 minutes before you leave each park, even if you want to wait until the end of your trip to purchase them. We didn't look at them until our departure day (we went to the Grand Floridian to view them) and none of the pictures taken at Epcot turned out well. I knew that we could view our PhotoPass pictures at home after our trip was over, but we discovered that you can purchase the copyright to the PhotoPass photos and they will send you EVERY picture that you had taken on a CD so that you can print as many as you want! The cost of this is only $99.95, and you can order the CDs from home. This program has its own special web address that can't be found on the regular PhotoPass website. - Jamie Chappell

A big part of our trip was the amazing pictures taken by the Disney PhotoPass photographers. I wanted to share with everyone something that Disney just started. As many of you may know, if you want to buy a 5x7 of one of the photos taken of you and your family by a Disney photographer, it will cost you about $20-$25 for ONE photo! Well, we bought one on our first day. By our fourth day, we had taken more than 50 photos with Disney photographers. Fortunately, that day we went to Epcot and stopped in the Camera Center to view our pictures... A very nice Cast Member named Joe advised us that for $99.95 we could purchase a CD with ALL of our Disney photos on it. They would also give us the license so that if we take the CD to a Walgreen's, Wal-Mart or anywhere else, they would know the pictures now belong to us and we can make as many prints in whatever size we want. By the time we left, we had close to 70 pictures, all beautiful, and all taken by Disney photographers. So, if you are picture junkies like we are and love the high quality photos Disney takes, it may well be worth your money to purchase the CD and have ALL the photos Disney took of you during your vacation, rather than spend $25 to get just one. We just got back from two weeks at WDW. It was our first time to use the PhotoPass and it was great! By the end of our first day at the park, I had saved our photo card number on my cell phone, just in case the card got lost anytime during our vacation. That way, I could get a new card from the photographer for new photos but still be able to access my earlier photos with the card number I already stored. I also saved on my cell phone the confirmation numbers for all our character dining... very easily accessible. - Maxine B.

I learned this tip the hard way when I lost my Disney PhotoPass this past May. I have since returned this past October and what I did with my Disney PhotoPass was place a return address label on the front and hand write my email address in case I lost my card. My hope was that if it was lost, someone would email me or send it back to me via the mail. Many, many Disney photographers made comments to me on what a great idea I had! - Michelle

While the new PhotoPass is a cool new idea, make sure you either take a digital picture of the pass or write down the pass number, not just in case it gets lost, but because the number wears off the back of it really fast. I used mine every day for a week, and the numbers were completely worn off by the end. Good thing I took a photo of it earlier in the week. - Arthur Maggi II

The new PhotoPass system is great. However, if you want the package deal that WDW parks offer, which includes one 5x7 and four wallets, this package deal is not offered on the PhotoPass website. You must purchase the 5x7 and wallets separately. You pay much more on the website compared to buying them at the parks, but if you just want the 5x7 there isn't much of a price difference. - Barb Murin

We looked at our PhotoPass (Disney's photo service) pictures online today and a few were missing. Whenever the Cast Members took our picture, I also had them take one with my camera. They were always happy to do so. If you have any pictures missing, they ask you for the day, time, and place where your picture was taken. Using your own personal camera as a backup makes it much easier for them to search for your missing photos. PhotoPass will even ask you for a photo of someone in the missing picture and sending your own copy along is the easiest and fastest way for them to see. PhotoPass enabled me to purchase my pics when I got home, therefore saving me some money in the parks. Onnie

Write down the number of your ride photos when leaving the attraction or, even better, take a picture of it. During our recent visit for the Tower of Terror 10 Miler race, we rode both the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and the Tower of Terror (wearing our MagicBands). For some reason neither of the photos were uploaded to our account. We knew the photos were taken because we saw them. Upon returning home we emailed details back and forth to the PhotoPass cast members, trying to help them locate the photos. Fortunately they found them after several attempts. If we had written the numbers down they could have located them right away. - Art S.
