Disney Just Filed a NEW Permit for the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom

For the second time in as many months, Disney has filed a permit for construction work on the Magic Kingdom’s iconic Haunted Mansion attraction.

Following a previous permit application in December, Disney has filed another permit request on January 12th, 2026, for “General Construction” at 1600 Magic Kingdom Drive, AKA the Haunted Mansion’s real-world street address.

This latest permit application follows the permit Disney filed on December 26th for the same location. That first permit was to “install set elements,” with Mecca Productions, Inc. listed as the contractor. Mecca is a full-service design, fabrication, and installation firm located in Central Florida that creates props and scenery for theme parks and attractions, museums, and corporate events.

What could be going on?

In fact, they’re so experienced with haunted houses and designs of that nature that it’s made them the country’s leading Halloween fabricator, making their work on a Mansion-related project quite sensical.

The contractor on the new permit application is listed as MLC Theming Inc., a frequent Imagineering partner whose name on Walt Disney Imagineering filings is often tied to construction support on construction projects.

While Disney has yet to announce anything specific about work on the Mansion, the two permits combined indicate that some level of construction is coming to the opening day Magic Kingdom attraction, though the vagueness of the wording could indicate anything from infrastructure work that may be invisible to guests all the way to show-related updates that could change elements of the ride experience.

The Haunted Mansion permits are two of several Disney has filed in recent weeks, including others tied to the construction of the upcoming Indiana Jones attraction at Animal Kingdom, Piston Peak and Villains Land in Magic Kingdom, and even a potential expansion of Gideon’s Bakery at Disney Springs.

Could this be a new Gideon’s?

Disney has filed a second construction permit for work on the Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on this project as Disney makes information available.
