CONFIRMED: 3 Pool Closures to Hit Disney World in 2026

Sorry to all you aquaphiles and mermaids out there — not every Disney World pool will be open all throughout 2026.

Bay Lake Tower

If you plan on visiting Disney World in 2026 and staying at a Disney hotel, there’s no guarantee you’ll have the full set of amenities available to you during your vacation. Just like Disney rides, hotels undergo their own refurbishments — including the pools. In fact, two pool refurbishments have already been announced, and a third is expected to follow suit.

Let’s start off over at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort. It’s been confirmed that the Surfboard Bay Pool & Kiddie Pool will be closed from January to late April 2026. Per Disney, “During this time, the Grand Slam Leisure Pool at Disney’s All-Star Sports will continue to be available. Additionally, Guests are welcome to use the other pools throughout Disney’s All-Star Resorts, including the Calypso Pool, Piano Pool and kiddie pool at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort; and the Fantasia Pool, Duck Pond Pool and kiddie pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort.”

We’re heading over to Disney’s Contemporary Resort next, where the Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower will be closed from January 26th to early May 2026. Additionally, the Cove Bar, the water play area, and the whirlpool spa at Bay Lake Tower will also be closed. The Bay Lake Pool, the feature pool, the water play area, and the whirlpool spa at the Contemporary will remain open for guests, per Disney.

Finally, although not confirmed, it’s not unreasonable to believe the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool area at the Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground may be closed at some point in 2026. Disney announced that the pool area will be getting an expansion that will add a  “brand-new zero-entry pool and deck area,” as well as “a tennis court and two pickleball courts.” Since early May 2025, construction has been taking place near the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool area, but the pool itself has remained open (though seating may be limited, and you may hear signs of construction).

Dates have yet to be announced as to when the pool itself may close, but be on the lookout.
