You never know what souvenirs you might find on a trip to Disney World!
From Minnie ears to Spirit Jerseys, Disney has A LOT of memorabilia to choose from. But there’s one type of souvenir that you don’t even have to pay for, you can simply just trade. And this kind of souvenir might be the only way you’ll end up with a souvenir from 2010 in 2023 while you’re in the parks.
Way back in 1999, Disney began using their pin souvenirs in a new way– Pin Trading. You could trade your own pins with Cast Members for new pins! Of course, you can’t trade for a pin that hasn’t been bought yet, but if you find a pin trading board around the park, you’re welcome to take a look and offer a trade.
Inside the parks, you may be able to spot these pin boards at numerous locations. Two places that are great places to trade are Disney’s Pin Traders at Disney Springs Marketplace and Pin Central in Epcot’s Future World. Many traders will even trade online or at random spots outside of Disney.
One of the cool things about pin trading is that you never know what you might find on the trading boards! We were roaming around Magic Kingdom when we stopped by one of these boards just to check it out. While looking, we noticed some unique pins, but one stuck out to us the most.
The yellow swan pin in the center seemed oddly familiar. So of course, we looked it up and found out that it’s actually a pin from 2010! It’s a pin from the 2010 Attractions Collection of Hidden Mickey Pins. The swan on it is from the Plaza Swan Boats. When the attraction was open, there was an entrance sign with two swan pictures on each side of the entrance. The swan on the pin is the same as those swans!
Since Disney regularly rotates their souvenirs, it’s not very common to find anything from 2010, 13 years later. This was a really cool find! You never know what hidden treasures you might find on those pin trading boards.
