Earlier this week, Disney World closed its parks early due to Tropical Storm Nicole.

When the parks reopened, they did so in a phased reopening with each of the four parks opening during the early afternoon.
Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom opened at noon today, and we visited the park about an hour after its opening.

There was quite a line to get onto the Monorail, filled with guests in ponchos.

But inside the park, it was truly a ghost town! We haven’t seen Main Street, U.S.A. this empty in quite some time.

It’s certainly not surprising to see a lack of crowds in the park today. After all, with the closure and storm, most guests who were planning to start their vacation now have likely been delayed to another date.

However, the crowds certainly are surprising considering we are heading into a holiday weekend.

Magic Kingdom is open for an exceptionally short amount of time today, not only due to the delayed opening but also its early closure at 6PM for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

Cinderella Castle hub was looking particularly empty…

And with such small crowds, wait times were definitely looking lower. Pirates of the Caribbean was a walk-on at 5 minutes long.

Other parts of the park were empty as well, including Storybook Circus…

…Frontierland…

…and Liberty Square.

Animal Kingdom
Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the line to get in was LONG when the park opened at 1PM.

However, once inside the wait times were relatively short. Kilimanjaro Safaris was a walk-on at 5 minutes long.

While this ride can sometimes see damage from major storms due to how expansive it is, everything looked relatively normal.

In fact, we saw quite a few animals out and about enjoying the cloudy weather!
