From a new ride opening soon to a popular Disney World restaurant opening for brunch, we’ve got the biggest Disney news stories for you from the week.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

This week, the biggest news was about the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction coming to EPCOT. Disney World just revealed that it will be opening soon — on May 27th. However, if you’re a Cast Member, Annual Passholder, DVC Member, or D23 Gold Member, you’ll get a shot at riding it early — previews for the ride are coming soon.

In honor of the upcoming grand opening, Disney even released a new commercial promoting the ride. We also learned about the ride’s height requirement: guests must be a minimum of 42 inches to rideIf you have to wait until opening date, though, park pass reservations for EPCOT are going fast!

Be Our Guest Restaurant Now Open For Brunch

We recently noticed that Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom had extended its hours with an earlier opening time of 10AM. Before Disney World’s closure and reopening, the restaurant previously served breakfast, but now, it’s serving brunch until noon.

Disney has not yet made an official announcement about the restaurant’s new brunch offerings, but when we visited, our server informed us about new brunch menu choices.

Character Meet and Greet and Finding Nemo Show Updates

Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Mickey and Minnie will soon be meeting with guests again at Adventurers Outpost. As we previously reported, traditional character meet and greets are returning soon.

Also, the new Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond show will be opening at Animal Kingdom soon. This show is a reimagined version of the previous Finding Nemo show that used to be performed at the park pre-closure.

Disney World Discount Offered to Disney+ Subscribers

If you have a subscription to Disney+, you can now get a discount on a Disney World vacation. You could save up to 25% off on your next Disney World hotel stay.

The offer is good for Disney+ subscribers on certain Disney World hotel rooms for most nights for stays from July 8th, 2022, through September 30th, 2022.

Disney To Build Affordable Housing In Orlando

Walt Disney World Resort has plans to earmark around 80 acres of land in southwest Orange County, Florida, for a new affordable housing project. The company plans on working with a developer to build more than 1,300 units in the community in effort to build “on The Walt Disney Company’s long legacy of bringing positive, lasting change to the communities it calls home.”

The community will be open to “qualifying applicants,” including both the general public and Cast Members.
