When the parks reopened, several attractions and offerings remained closed in the interest of health and safety.

This included many shows, fireworks, parades, and even play areas and splash pads. We’re starting to see some of these things slowly reopen and return to operation, and today we noticed that a popular play area was back up and running!
If you’ve ever waited in the queue for Dumbo the Flying Elephant at Magic Kingdom, then you probably know that part of the line includes a play area for kiddos to run around in.

Since the reopening, this area has remained closed, but today it returned to operation!

Previously, guests would be given a pager and could wait in the play area to board the ride (thus making the wait time less boring for little ones), but now things have switched up a bit. When we arrived, we were asked by a Cast Member if we wanted to “play” with Dumbo or “ride” Dumbo, and then we were sent to the appropriate location.

Inside the play area, shoes and face masks are required, so keep that in mind when you bring your kids by. We were told that this room could accommodate up to 100 guests, but that it hadn’t yet reached capacity.

Once we went to leave the area, we were asked if we wanted to exit or if we wanted to ride. At the time of our visit, the ride was a walk-on.

We opted to exit and were directed out of the Emergency Exit door.

We’ll make sure to keep watching this area and update you with any big changes. Having this open adds another thing to the list of options for parents with kids, and having a place to run off some steam can be very helpful during a long day at Disney. Stay tuned to AllEars for all the in-park updates on playgrounds around the resort!
