Due to the global pandemic, Disney has several new safety regulations in place. Included in those rules are that guests must generally wear masks at all times, maintain an appropriate social distance from others, and have their temperature taken at certain points. Over time, some of these rules have been changed or updated. Now Disney has updated some of its requirements specifically when it comes to larger parties and social distancing.

The Disney World website has previously had explanations of Disney’s rules and requirements when it comes to face coverings, physical distancing, and more. Now, the website has been updated with a new policy from Disney regarding those traveling in large parties.

Disney’s website now notes that guests traveling in parties of MORE than 10 are asked to split into smaller groups while in queues, at dining locations, and at other areas around the parks and resorts to better allow for physical distancing.

Larger parties have already had to potentially split up for things like theater shows in Disney World where certain seats are marked as “unavailable for use.”

This has also been taking place on Disney transportation like the Monorail and Disney Buses, where guests traveling in larger parties might have to divide into separate groups to sit within the designated seating groups.

  1. Seems to me it would make sense to allow large parties that are likely already exposed to each other prior to visiting and outside the parks to stay together and even utilize blocked out seating while dining and transporting. I don’t see a safety issue in treating any group, no matter how many are in the group, as a single person and dwell on keeping groups distanced from each other instead of using energy to continually split up a large group who are likely already exposed to each other.
