The 8 Best Disney World Snacks (And Which Ones Aren’t Worth It)

There are hundreds, possibly thousands of snacks in Disney World.

Mickey Bar

We go to the parks every day, and that means we spend an inordinate amount of time and money dining in Disney World. Therefore, we know which snacks are the best…and which ones aren’t worth your time!

Fries

Let’s start out this list with one menu item you’re going to see all OVER the place in Disney World — French Fries. They’re a staple of American food, but not all types are created equal in the realm of Disney menus. Personally, our team really loves the various loaded fries around property.

Loaded Crab Fries

At Flame Tree Barbecue, you’ll find Pulled Pork Cheese Fries that are meaty, savory, and cheesy. Rosie’s All-American Cafe is home to Buffalo Fries that are ranch-seasoned and drizzled with buffalo-ranch sauce and blue cheese dressing (great for the sauce girlies out there!).

Pulled Pork & Cheese Fries in Animal Kingdom

A beloved option for several people on our team are the Black Garlic Truffle Fries at several quick service spots around Disney World (like Pinocchio Village Haus, Connections Eatery, Columbia Harbour House, etc.). These are topped with black garlic aioli and parmesan cheese, and they are TO DIE FOR. Earthy and cheesy and creamy, oh MY.

For a more sophisticated option, you can get the Watchos at Rix Sports Bar at Coronado Springs Resort. These are waffle fries loaded with toppings like queso blanco, bacon, scallions, and queso fresco. Great to pair with your favorite sports team playing on the bar’s TV.

And of course, we’d be remiss if we forgot to mention The Daily Poutine, the poutine stand at Disney Springs. They have a variety of different loaded steak-style fries, and they’ve been known to get some delicious seasonal options in the past.

Truffle Mushroom Frites

You really can’t go wrong with any of these!

Not Worth It: Fries Edition

But honestly, the fries you shouldn’t get? The basic ones! We do enjoy a classic Disney fry, but with so many different options out there that are more exciting, these just occasionally fall flat.

Plain fries

Also, we’ve found that they cool off FAST, and once they’re cold, they’re not nearly as good.

Ice Creams

The second category of snacks is ice cream! (We all scream for it!) Some of our go-to spots to snag it in the parks are L’Artisan des Glaces in EPCOT, Hollywood Scoops in Hollywood Studios, or Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in Magic Kingdom.

YUM!

For some more unique and leveled-up treats, you’ll need to leave the parks. Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at the Beach Club is an old-school style soda shop where you’ll find over-the-top milkshakes and the famous Kitchen Sink Sundae. It’s a great challenge for an ice cream-loving family!

Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream

Disney Springs is home to both Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop and Salt & Straw. Ghirardelli is the place to go for fun milkshakes that are loaded up, while Salt & Straw is the home of unique and incredible flavors. They even serve bug-filled ice cream or turkey-flavored ice cream during different seasons of the year.

SO unique

And ice cream is a great way to chill out in the middle of a hot day.

Not Worth It: Ice Cream Edition

Honestly, I’m going to say the plain soft serve here. There are plenty of places to get basic chocolate, vanilla, or swirl soft serve ice cream. It’s nice on a hot day, but it’s simply fine.

If we’re grabbing ice cream, we want to have something a bit more interesting and exciting!

DOLE Whip

Yes, this is a different category from ice cream because they’re two different treats! There are some excellent spots to snag DOLE Whip, specifically around the parks, including some unique flavors.

Raspberry-Pineapple

In Magic Kingdom, our go-to spots are Aloha Isle (pineapple and coconut soft serve), Sunshine Tree Terrace (strawberry and orange), and Storybook Treats. Storybook Treats typically just has a seasonal DOLE Whip cone or sundae.

Pineapple Upside Down Cake

Tamu Tamu Refreshments in Animal Kingdom is also a great stop, as well as select food booths at the EPCOT festivals. At Good’s Food to Go at Old Key West Resort, you can order Key Lime Swirl year-round, and it’s DELISH. You’ll also be able to get DOLE Whip at Pineapple Lanai at the Polynesian Village Resort.

Then of course, we’ve got to mention Swirls on the Water in Disney Springs with its DOLE Whip flights and seasonal flavors.

Swirls on the Water

This is a truly iconic treat in Disney World!

Not Worth It: DOLE Whip Edition

There’s not truly a downside to DOLE Whip, although we like to warn people that some of the newer, more unique flavors can taste a bit more fake.

DOLE Whip Sampler

We’ve found this problem once or twice with the seasonal soft serves at Swirls on the Water, as well as some of the limited-time options at Storybook Treats.

EPCOT Festivals

Throughout the year, there are four festivals that run at EPCOT. First is the International Festival of the Arts, celebrating the visual and performing arts with incredible entertainment and truly stunning food dishes.

Quincy enjoying the festival

Then there’s the International Flower & Garden Festival, where Disney decorates the park in character topiaries and plants fresh gardens. This festival’s eats are often healthier, fresher, and filled with garden-based foods.

Emma at La Isla Fresca

In the fall, you can visit the OG, the International Food & Wine Festival. This one offers food from around the world and has the broadest menu, with different themed booths popping up each year.

Then, we round out the year with the International Festival of the Holidays. You can enjoy holiday traditions from around the world and check out what those countries eat during the most magical time of the year.

Everything we tried at L’Chaim

If you get the chance to visit during a festival, we highly recommend it!

Not Worth It: Festival Edition

The main problem that we have during the EPCOT festivals is just that we want to eat our way around the festival, and regular year-round park snacks can feel like a waste of money and stomach space.

Les Halles Boulangerie-Pâtisserie

Then, if you’re always planning visits during festivals, it’s hard to ever get a handle on the EPCOT snack staples. Such a hard choice to make!

Mac and Cheese

Oooh, one of our FAVORITES, let’s talk about mac and cheese! Perhaps the most famous is the mac and cheese you get at Gasparilla Island Grill at the Grand Floridian — it’s creamy and cheesy and WAY better than other quick service options.

Mac and cheese

In Animal Kingdom, there are several great spots to snag mac and cheese. Eight Spoon Cafe has snack-sized portions of varying flavors, while the Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese stays on the menu at Flame Tree Barbecue. We also love the mac on the buffet at Tusker House.

We’re big fans!

Regal Eagle Smokehouse in EPCOT has a great mac and cheese as a side dish, and the Crispy Mac and Cheese Bites are a fan-fave at The Basket in Disney Springs.

Who doesn’t love cheesy pasta goodness?!

Not Worth It: Mac and Cheese Edition

In our personal opinions here at AllEars, we’re not big fans of the mac and cheese hand pie from Friar’s Nook in Magic Kingdom. We found it to be pretty dry when we tried it out.

Unfortunately, the sauce didn’t really help to make it better.

Resort Must-Haves

Of course, not all snacks are in the parks, and you need some things to add to your list for your resort day. We’ve got you covered! At Disney’s BoardWalk, Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs is fresh on the scene with some fun dogs and a massive mozzarella stick.

Giant Mozzarella Stick

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter is famous for its Mickey-shaped beignets, and people go out of their way to order them. (They’re SO good!).

Mickey Beignets

At Animal Kingdom Lodge, you can snag the iconic Zebra Domes…

…the Polynesian Village Resort is home to Pulled Pork Nachos…

…and the massive cake slices at The Cake Bake Shop Bakery at the BoardWalk are pricey, but super delicious.

Let’s eat!

Seriously, you won’t go hungry on your resort day.

Not Worth It: Resort Edition

The main tip we’re going to give you here is DO NOT make a reservation at ‘Ohana at the Polynesian if all you want is bread pudding and noodles. Instead, go to Tambu Lounge next door.

Yuuum

They offer some of the ‘Ohana menu items for cheaper and easier than doing a full sit-down meal.

Cupcakes, Cookies, and Pastries

For a sweet treat, we’ve got this baked goods section! The Creme Brulee Croissant at Gaston’s Tavern has been a go-to of ours recently, as well as the Grey Stuff Cupcake.

Creme Brulee Croissant

The Campfire Cupcake is another standout. It’s a chocolate cupcake with chocolate rocks, buttercream, and marshmallow, available at Roaring Fork at Wilderness Lodge.

How cute is this?!

Of course, Karamell-Kuche in the Germany Pavilion at EPCOT has our heart. They have incredible caramel cupcakes and filled cookie sandwiches that change seasonally (we love the gingerbread one in particular).

Gingerbread Cookie Sandwich

And we’ve become big fans of the Cookie Bar at Summer House on the Lake. It has affordable giant cookies that are so yummy, and we hardly ever have to wait in a long line.

So. Many. Treats.

Hopefully, this curbs your sweet tooth.

Not Worth It: Baked Goods Edition

If you want a recommendation for things to avoid, we steer clear of the giant cookies or basic cupcakes in the bakery cases around Disney World. If it’s just simple vanilla with buttercream, or it looks too dry, it’s probably not exciting.

Mickey Cereal Cupcake

Go instead for the more unique treats!

Savory Bites

Last but not least, we’ve got savory bites to share. The spring rolls at the cart outside of Adventureland in Magic Kingdom are a favorite of many, as are the Cheeseburger Pods at Satu’li Canteen in Animal Kingdom.

Cheeseburger Pods

Also in Animal Kingdom, we love the Corn on the Cob at Harambe Fruit Market and the spectacular arepas at The Smiling Crocodile.

Corn!

The Ronto Wrap at Ronto Roasters is a winner in Hollywood Studios. And of course, you’ll want to go next door to Toy Story Land and get the Totchos at Woody’s Lunch Box.

Ronto Wrap

In addition, we highly recommend any pretzel bites served with beer cheese. YUM.

Not Worth It: Savory Bites Edition

In this category, our skippable items include turkey legs, Mickey pretzels, and plant-based cheese pizzas. All a bit underwhelming.
