Disney World is possibly doing its Annual Passholders dirty with a brand-new rule…

Park hopping at Disney World is a popular practice at Disney World — especially among Annual Passholders — that allows guests to experience MULTIPLE Disney Parks in a single day. Unfortunately, Passholders looking to start their day at Magic Kingdom will face a roadblock this summer thanks to a new reservation rule.
Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away” is a new nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom. This new parade is promising tons of fun and a real spectacle — which leads Disney to believe Magic Kingdom popularity could increase even more.

In an effort to manage crowds, Disney World is making some reservation adjustments. Starting July 20th (the day the parade debuts), Disney World Annual Passholders can only visit Magic Kingdom with a theme park reservation.

It’s also important to note an already established park-hopping caveat: Park hopping is subject to availability. If Magic Kingdom reaches capacity before you hop on over (especially during the opening days of “Disney Starlight”, there’s a chance your park hopping privileges won’t be honored. That’s why it’s so important to grab a Magic Kingdom park reservation if you’re intent on visiting the park on any given day.

This rule might be temporary, but in the meantime, the new guidelines should be taken seriously. As far as the rest of the Disney World rules, nothing changes. Passholders can still visit all four theme parks without a reservation on good-to-go days or after 2 PM on weekdays. Magic Kingdom requires reservations on Saturdays and Sundays all day.

The new “Disney Starlight” parade will utilize the latest tech to bring beloved Disney characters and stories to life. The parade will feature twists on fan-favorite songs, popular characters, and bright lights adorning creative floats that honor some of Disney’s most famous movies and characters.

We’ll be covering “Disney Starlight” as well as all things Disney World all summer long, so stay tuned right here at AllEars to stay in the know!

I understand that Disney wants to control traffic for what will be an extremely popular attraction but lately it feels like being a passholder is more of a punishment than a perk. Everything that made being a passholder attractive has gradually been stripped away. If you’re a. Florida resident, you’re better off waiting for Disney’s special offers than getting an annual pass.
