2 Life-Changing Announcements for Magic Kingdom in 2025

2025 is gearing up to be a huge year for Disney World.

While there are more closures on the horizon for all four parks, including multiple attractions in the Magic Kingdom, there is still so much to look forward to.  Although, as of right now, three temporary closures are planned throughout the castle park. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has already closed for a lengthy refurbishment, and later this month, both the Hall of Presidents and the Astro Orbiter will also temporarily close. Sadly, 2025 is also set to be the year that Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America close permanently. It is not all that bad, as there are two life-changing and exciting things coming to Magic Kingdom this year!

While it is a shame that many parts of Disney World’s original theme park will be closed throughout 2025 and into 2026, Disney made sure not to leave us high and dry, as two new additions will be coming to the Magic Kingdom this year.

While no exact location has been confirmed as of yet, the all-new Pirates of the Caribbean-inspired lounge will open somewhere in Adventureland. This new lounge will take inspiration from the beloved attraction. According to Disney at this lounge, “bandits and buccaneers-to-be from every corner of the seven seas are welcome to join together and raise a toast to the pirate life!”

There will be “a sea-worthy selection of grogs and grub” when dining here. Disney has released a few pieces of concept art for this lounge, as it was initially announced at Destination D23 in 2023.

This lounge is expected to open in late 2025, and we can’t wait to dine among fellow pirates!

Fans have been begging for the return of a nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom for years. You may recall the Main Street Electrical Parade, along with Spectromagic, which used to light the streets of the Magic Kingdom. Well, now, a new nighttime parade is set to dazzle guests this summer.

This parade was announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event back in August of 2024. During the parade’s initial announcement, the parade was called “Disney Starlight.” It now has a longer and updated name, and when it debuts this summer, it will be called “Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away!

The parade will feature classic stories from films that you know and love, like Peter Pan, Moana, Pinocchio, Frozen, and more!

We know it can be a bummer to visit Disney World when many attractions are unavailable. Still, we are looking forward to these two new additions in Magic Kingdom, along with all the other new additions that will open this year, the other three theme parks.

  1. These aren’t big. Nothing has ever come close the the Main Street Electrical Parade. They’ve all been good, some wonderful, but haven’t really captured the imagination of MSEP. Oh, and that tune! As far as a new lounge. Nothing to get excited about unless you enjoy overpriced food. Seriously, food prices have really gotten out of control.

I’m gonna miss Tom Sawyer’s Island, that ridiculously fun oasis in the middle of all that hustle and bustle, and heat. A chance for families to relax without having to spend an enormous amount of money. I really think that kids love the place. I always see smiles. This may be Disney’s first truly big mistake.
