Construction has officially started on the major reimagining project in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Earlier this week, Disney World closed several major parts of DinoLand, U.S.A., to make way for the area’s reimagining into Pueblo Esperanza, the new Tropical Americas-themed land that will eventually replace all of DinoLand, U.S.A. Things are moving forward quickly, as Disney announced that construction on the new land has officially begun.

The Tropical Americas project team kicked off construction on Friday, January 17th with a groundbreaking ceremony.

On Monday, TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s DinoRama, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures were closed to make way for the construction. Other areas of the land — including the popular Dinosaur attraction — are still open for now. However, eventually, the entire land will be replaced by Pueblo Esperanza.

At the 2024 D23 event, Disney provided a first look at Pueblo Esperanza, which will feature an Indiana Jones ride and Disney’s first-ever Encanto attraction, among other new additions.
