Disney World’s NEW Hotel Perk Has a Major Flaw… or Does It?

We love staying at Disney World resorts!

Port Orleans – French Quarter

One of the biggest parts of planning your Disney World trip is deciding where to stay! We’ve shared our favorite resorts and shared some we would skip but they all have different perks when staying on Disney property. A brand new hotel perk seems to have a major flaw… or does it?

A brand-new Disney World hotel perk started this month and we couldn’t be more excited. Now on the day you check into your Disney hotel, you get free water park entry!

Blizzard Beach!

This is only available to you on your check-in day so don’t plan to use this new perk any day other than the day you arrive. Disney has two water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard beach, which rotate openings. In the past, the water parks used to be open simultaniously but in the past few years they take turns being available to Disney guests.

Typhoon Lagoon

This new perk is perfect for anyone who has an early flight in or you were planning on skipping a park to save some money when you first arrive. You don’t have to wait until your 3 PM check in either, you can head straight to the water park as soon as you’re ready!

If you plan on utilizing this perk, don’t forget to keep your bathing suits handy so you’re ready to dive in. This is a perk we’ve been excited to see added for 2025 since we’ve been feeling like a lot of hotel perks were quietly disappearing. With this perk though, there might be one glaring issue.

Lazy River

In case you didn’t know, when the temperatures drop in Orlando (which does happen occasionally) the water parks at Disney World close! We’ve seen this several times this year already and it typically doesn’t happen as often once we start getting into March and April — but it can still happen.

We’ve already seen Blizzard Beach closed for multiple days in 2025, which is unsurprising. This does leave the question: What happens to that new shiny hotel perk if the water parks are closed on the day of arrival?

The official answer, according to Disney, is, “Parks, attractions and other offerings subject to availability, closures and change or cancellation without notice or liability. No refund or credit given for any such changes or cancellation. Park admission and offerings are not guaranteed.”

In layman’s terms, Disney is essentially saying you might not get to enjoy this perk if the water parks are closed. This is more of a “tough luck” response that we were hoping for but now we’ve heard from one of our readers that there might be another option!

Meeting Stitch at Typhoon Lagoon!

Before we share what this reader experienced, remember this isn’t a guarantee! This is just something that a Disney guest experienced and it might have been a one time thing, so you should not expect this to be the case if you’re faced with the same situation.

According to one of our readers who was staying at Disney World during the water park closuer this month, Disney gave them a special pass that gave them access to the water park anytime during their stay!

This would be a major win if it’s what Disney will offer when the water park is closed so you can use this new hotel perk. That being said, it’s important to remember Disney’s official language says that this perk isn’t guaranteed so you might still be out of luck if it’s too chilly to hit the pools.

Who’s ready to tan?

This post serves as more of a friendly reminder to always check your My Disney Experience app to see if you get a redemption ticket should you find yourself in this situation. You can also ask a guest relations Cast Member at your resort but remember if they say no, the answer is no! Please be kind to Cast Members even if they give you answers you don’t necessarily want. They’re just doing their jobs.

We’re eager to see how this perk is used throughout 2025 and if it’s just one example of truly good hotel perks finally returning. Don’t forget to keep following AllEars for more Disney news and updates.
