Are you going to be at the Magic Kingdom in 2025?

If so, we couldn’t be more excited to hear it! You’ve got so much to look forward to with all the rides, food, and more! And we haven’t even talked about the live entertainment like the parades and the fireworks. That reminds us. You know, just about anywhere in the kingdom is pretty “magical,” but there is one place that come 2PM, you surely don’t want to be there. Let’s talk about it!
As we were saying, if you’re planning on hitting up the Magic Kingdom on your next Disney World trip, there’s one place in the park that you don’t want to be at when the clock strikes 2PM — Main Street, U.S.A. — and it’s for one teeny, tiny, itty bitty reason — the Festival of Fantasy parade!

Why Avoid Main Street, U.S.A. at 2PM?
If there’s one thing that’s true about the Festival of Fantasy Parade it’s that it is a HUGE draw for guests, and it’s easy to see why. It’s an extravagant, colorful parade filled with your favorite Disney characters, some incredible floats (think a fire-breathing Maleficent dragon), and plenty of lively performers.

But as amazing as it is, the parade route attracts massive crowds that begin to gather long before the parade actually starts. Starting from Frontierland, the parade weaves its way through Liberty Square before hitting Main Street, U.S.A., where the crowd is at its thickest.

Imagine a huge rush of people trying to score prime viewing spots along the street, all in the heat of the day. The experts know that, while the parade is beautiful, being on Main Street when it’s packed shoulder-to-shoulder is a fast track to feeling overwhelmed and stuck.
What Happens on Main Street, U.S.A. at Parade Time?
Before the clock strikes 2, you’ll find that Main Street transforms. Cast Members start closing off certain areas, navigating between Adventureland and Tomorrowland becomes a bit of a challenge, sidewalks overflow, and stroller parking gets wild.

Plus, if you’re hoping to grab a quick bite or to duck into the Emporium for some A/C, you’re going to be competing with the parade crowds doing the exact same thing. If you happen to find yourself on Main Street close to 2PM, you’re going to want to either snag your spot early or make your escape to another area of the park!
So, Where Should You Be at 2PM?
You’ll find that most Disney experts will recommend using this time to head for other parts of Magic Kingdom. For example, here are a couple of ways to dodge the crowds and maximize the magic:
-
- Adventureland & Frontierland Rides: With the parade drawing people to Main Street, this is the perfect time to hit up some of the nearby attractions that usually have longer lines like Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, and even Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
- Fantasyland for Shorter Lines: You might want to hit up Fantasyland rides like “it’s a small world” or Mad Tea Party, which sometimes get shorter wait times during the parade.
- Take a Food or A/C Break: If you’re in need of some downtime, nothing beats ducking into an indoor dining spot like Columbia Harbour House for a snack and some of that sweet, sweet air conditioning. Trust us, it’s a way better experience than trying to grab a hot dog while standing in the middle of a Main Street crowd.

So, just remember that if seeing the parade is on your must-do list, plan ahead so that you can avoid getting caught up in the Main Street madness. You actually might want to find a spot in Frontierland since you’ll get to see all the same floats and characters, and if you’re early, you’ll have way fewer people jostling for space. And if you’re just not into parades, use this time as your chance to maximize those lower wait times around the park.
