Disney’s Hollywood Studios is my favorite park, and that’s certainly no secret to anyone who knows me.
I have loved the film industry for years, so a park dedicated to filmmaking and the magic of movies is certainly right up my alley. Not to mention that it’s got some of my favorite rides in the whole resort, and the shows there are top-tier. On my last trip, I got to experience something NEW, and I have to admit — I am LOVING this ride change!
Rise of the Resistance is truly an EPIC experience in Galaxy’s Edge, and getting to ride it for the first time years ago was something I’ll never forget. It’s not just a ride — it’s an immersive adventure so many people will enjoy.
The only downside is that due to being one of the best rides in the park, it’s VERY popular and often has high wait times. It’s not included in Lightning Lane Multi Pass, meaning to bypass the line, you must purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass, which quickly adds up for families and groups, as the price is typically sitting around $25 per person.
Not to mention that due to the ride’s high-level technology, the ride does go down often, usually causing a surge of people to return to it the moment it opens again. We have seen wait times dip relatively low for this ride plenty of times before, though, so keep your eyes on the posted wait time.
However, there’s a new option currently being tested that I personally could not be more excited about — a SINGLE RIDER LINE! That’s right, Rise of the Resistance has been testing a single-rider line for few months now, and I got to experience it firsthand. I genuinely think it’s one of the best ride decisions Disney has made in a while.
Here’s the thing, though — the single rider line isn’t officially here to stay; it’s in testing. And that means a lot of changes have already been made. When I visited at the end of September, I was taken past the pre-show and the ship and straight into the room with all the Stormtroopers, then kept to the left in a separate line. However, when I went back a week later, we were brought to the pre-show room, went on the ship, and THEN were taken through the left side of the line before you’re sorted to go into the interrogation room as the WHOLE group of us in the pre-show/ship were single riders.
Sometimes, people are worried that single-rider lines will get too busy with popular attractions, and while I think that’s a very valid fear, the thing with Rise of the Resistance is that many families and groups WANT to experience it together, so they wouldn’t want to be split up. Since it’s such a fully-encompassing adventure, lots of groups want to be able to look over at each other and experience it together.
It does mean you miss some parts of the queue, though, but to me, it’s totally worth it to skip a big line and hop on one of my favorite attractions. So the next time you’re in the park, head over to the right side of the attraction’s entrance to see if they’re offering the single rider line (you’ll usually see someone holding a sign!).
