NEWS: Disney World Pushing Opening Date BACK for New Hollywood Studios Attraction

Some major changes are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Recently, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy closed to make way for a new Disney Villains stage show, and during D23, Disney announced that the park would get a new Monsters, Inc.-inspired land. But that’s not all…we’re also expecting an updated show in Animation Courtyard!

Last year, Disney announced that a new show called “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” would be coming to Animation Courtyard. That area of the park was previously home to the stage show “Voyage of the Little Mermaid,” but it never reopened after the pandemic.

When the announcement was made, Disney shared that the new Little Mermaid show would premiere in the fall of 2024. However, now it seems that its launch has been delayed. In an update to the original announcement post, Disney shared that the new show is now set to premiere in the summer of 2025.

Work is expected to begin in the next few weeks to remove the old show marquee from the theater. We’ve already seen the logo for the new show, but we’ll be interested to see what the signage looks like out front.

The new show is a fully reimagined retelling of the animated film. Just like Voyage of the Little Mermaid, it will include a mix of live actors and puppets in some scenes. The show will include several favorite songs, including “Part of Your World,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” and “Kiss the Girl.”
