In Chinese culture, the Moon Festival is an autumn festival for people to gather with family and friends.
It is traditional for people celebrating this festival to enjoy mooncakes which represent the moon and the namesake of this mid-autumn festival. As autumn is a transitioning season of less sun (daylight) and more night (moonlight), this traditional treat represents this change. Soon, another popular festival will be serving a mooncake variety, and you won’t want to miss the opportunity to explore this cultural tradition!
The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival has been going on since August 29th. This festival is a celebration of cultural foods and drinks from around the world. It’s a great opportunity to try small dishes from different countries you might not normally get to.
Well, starting on September 8th, you’ll be able to try a traditional mooncake for the Moon Festival at the China food booth! Moon Festival begins on September 17th this year, and this cake will be available from September 8th through September 21st, giving you a few days to try this cultural tradition.
This year, you can try the Snowy Mooncake a butterfly pea flower-infused snow skin mooncake with a creamy custard filling.
If it tastes as good as it looks, we might not be able to settle for just one! It’s a beautiful mooncake to celebrate this autumn festival. The China booth is also serving the following items throughout the festival:
Food
- Pan-Fried Chicken Dumplings
- Crispy Duck Bao Bun
- Shanghai Scallion Noodles with shrimp
Drinks
- Mango Peach Bubble Tea
- Fiery Dream
- Baijiu Punch
- Orange Mango Cocktail
- Brew Hub Lychee Foo Draft Beer
The Food and Wine Festival is a fun experience in EPCOT. Not only are there unique food and beverage options but you’ll also find festival exclusive entertainment, scavenger hunts, and ride overlays. We suggest visiting EPCOT during this festival or one of its other three seasonal festivals — Festival of the Holidays, Festival of the Arts, and Flower and Garden Festival.
If you’re headed to the Food and Wine Festival between September 8th and 21st, don’t miss out on the traditional mooncake for the Moon Festival at the China booth!
