Why “Bus Roulette” Is My New Favorite Game in Disney World

We’re dedicated to providing you with the best tips to ensure you have the best Disney World vacation possible, because we’ve personally made some significant mistakes in the past and want to help you avoid repeating them.

Disney Bus

From telling you about hotel rooms to getting you dining recommendations to explaining the very confusing Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass to reminding you to bring a poncho to the parks, we’re going to make sure you get our best tips. Well, we have one that could save you some time, and it’s a game we call “bus roulette.”

So, bus roulette is a Disney transportation game you’ll want to play when you’re leaving the parks, whether that be in the middle of the day for a break or at the end of the night when the parks close. What you’re going to do is potentially (key word being potentially) take a Disney bus that ISN’T for your hotel.

So maybe that seems a little counterproductive (or, maybe a lot). But hear us out! The idea is to take the first bus you see for a hotel that’s within easy walking distance of the hotel where you’re staying (unless, of course, your hotel bus turns up first). This could save you from having to wait longer for your own hotel bus, and since there’s no way to check the time of the next resort bus, you won’t know how long you’ll be waiting.

Now, this only works for specific hotels. For example, if you’re staying at Disney’s Pop Century Resort or Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, you can take a bus to either of those resorts to get to where you’re going, as they are within easy walking distance from each other.

This also works for any of the EPCOT resort hotels, including Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. This can also work if you’re staying at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, as all these resorts are within easy walking distance of each other.

However, there is something to consider here: this may not be the best option for everyone, especially if you have someone in your party with mobility issues. Or, if you’ve walked 15 miles throughout your park day (sounds like an exaggeration, we know, but it’s not for many people) and feel like your legs are about to fall off. Our point is that while this is a great tip for many, you need to weigh the pros and cons for yourself and your party. Will a bus ride sooner rather than later rest your legs enough to make you feel ready for the longer walk, or will a longer walk vs. a longer wait for the bus just make the end of your day even more tiring? That’s up to you to decide for yourself; there’s no right or wrong answer!

We’ve also turned Bus Roulette into a fun game you can play if you’re looking for something unique and fun to do around the resort, too! Check it out below, and let us know what you think if you play it yourself.

So the next time you find yourself waiting for a bus to your resort, consider playing bus roulette to get to where you’re going a little faster. Yes, you might have to walk a little more, but if you’re in a hurry or just want to sit down on an air-conditioned bus a little faster (something we understand), bus roulette could be your best option.

  1. We like to do something similar if we need a mid-afternoon break from the parks but don’t want to go back to the room. We just go to the bus stop and take the first resort bus that comes, and hang out at that resort for a bit.

  2. Pretty sure you all took this idea from spencerfinds on Instagram and TikTok…really low blow for posting this without giving credit. Would expect something better from y’all.

    1. Hi Violet! I watched one of his videos on Instagram just now and it looks like his videos are more about traveling around to different resorts to find food/drink and other fun whereas we just mean it might be faster to take a bus that’s close to your resort and walk over to your resort resulting in a shorter wait time for the bus. The names are the same, however, but it’s not something we got from anywhere outside of our team and is purely coincidental. We will always provide any credit to readers and viewers who submit content to us as well as any sources we use in any news pieces we write.

  3. We used to do that when staying at Boardwalk. At one time, the route included Swan and Dolphin before YC, BC and THEN Boardwalk. We always got off at Swan (the first stop) and cut through some bushes to the bridge to Boardwalk. Probably saved 20-30 minutes.
