Two Disney World Price Increases That Will Impact Your Next Trip

Let us make a list of things we love…and things we hate. Things we love: 1.) Cinderella Castle 2.) Any kind of Disney Bread Service 3.) Magic Kingdom’s Happily Ever After fireworks 4.) Cozy hotel room beds. Things we hate: 1.) Price increases 2.) Price increases 3.) Price increases. Yeah, we hate it when things get more expensive in Disney World. Shocker.

Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom

Like it or not, Disney has a reputation for raising prices throughout the year. That Sanaa bread service at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge? Back in 2014, it was $9.99. Now, it’s $22. Ouch. If you’re planning a trip to Disney World this year, we have two important prices increases we need to tell you about.

As much as we LOVE the holiday season at Disney World, it’s one of the most expensive times of year to visit the parks and resorts. Hotel rooms? Expensive? Plane tickets? Expensive. You get the idea. It’s not cheap. In fact, we noticed two important price increases happening this winter.

1. Park Tickets

The closer we get to November–December, the more those Disney World park tickets creep up, up, up in price. Here’s an example. Take a look at the Disney World park ticket prices in August 2024. As you can see, the prices are a little scattered, but you can find some park tickets for as low as $109 per person, per day towards the end of the month.

Now, fast-forward to December 2024. You won’t see any $109-tickets here. In fact, tickets can cost as much as $164+. And that’s not including tax.

If you want to go to Magic Kingdom on December 31st, for example (which we do NOT recommend, by the way), it will cost you $189 per ticket. That’s a significant price increase compared to August!

NEWS: Disney World Reveals PRICE INCREASE for 2025 Park Tickets

Oh, and we haven’t even talked about the ticket prices in 2025. Spoiler alert: they’re more expensive. Based on what we’ve seen so far, it looks like the starting price for a 1-day ticket has now increased from $109 to $119. Prepare to pay more!

2. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

Magic Kingdom hosts a fantastic seasonal holiday party each winter, and it’s SUPER popular. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party tickets include complimentary cookies and hot chocolate, rare character meet-and-greets, a special parade, fireworks, and more!

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

As we said, this event is pretty popular. Tickets often sell out, and people base their entire trip around attending a Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party event.

We went to the FIRST party of the year!

Unfortunately, we have some bad news about the 2024 party. This year, the ticket prices are more expensive. Let us break it down:

  • 2023: Tickets ranged from $149 to $199 per person
  • 2024: Tickets range from $169 to $219 per person

Yep. Disney is now charging over $200 per person to attend this Magic Kingdom holiday event. For a family of four, that could be over $900 worth of party tickets for a 5-hour event. And that’s not including any party-exclusive treats or merchandise, either!

  1. Totally agree. We have attended many special events over the years. Back in the day when they weren’t over selling the Christmas Party, it was a lot of fun. The beauty of these events were the limited tickets being sold. The lines weren’t long and the crowds were very manageable. I can even remember being able to stay on a ride for a second time because there was no line. Sadly, those days are gone… Five years ago when we went, there were so many people, you couldn’t move. The lines were as long, if not longer, than during the regular park hours. We ended up leaving and going back to the hotel. Definitely not worth the money anymore. Sadly, it will be our last unless they start limiting the ticket sales again for special events.

  2. My husband and I were so excited for Mickey’s Very Merry last year and then quickly very disappointed. It wasn’t worth it. They are over-selling the parties. So $170 for a couple of cookies and some hot chocolate with the same crowds you’d see during the day is a hard pass for me.
