Before you know it, kids across America will be back in school. The pumpkin-spice drinks will return (hallelujah!), and the festive fall decorations will take over the Magic Kingdom in Disney World. And you know what? We can’t WAIT!

New EPCOT festivals, major holidays, and ride reopenings? It’s all coming SOON. That’s right — there are several things to look forward to in the Disney parks, so get ready! If you’re planning a trip to Disney World this August, here are all the biggest CHANGES and events happening throughout the month!
The Jungle Cruise Is CLOSING
The beloved Jungle Cruise ride in Magic Kingdom will close on August 26th for a refurbishment.

The Disney World calendar states that this is just a temporary refurbishment, so there’s no need to panic. That said, Disney hasn’t shared a reopening date quite yet, so you might have to wait a few months for this ride to be back up and running.

Luckily, Disney confirmed the attraction is scheduled to reopen before the winter holidays begin at Disney World. We’re hoping it will be available during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, so stay tuned for more information.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Is BACK!
WOOHOO! Halloween famously starts pretty early in Disney World, but we wouldn’t want it any other way. The first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party of the 2024 season is August 9th, so get ready!

We anticipate Magic Kingdom will be decorated with all its classic Halloween decor before then. Keep your eyes out for updates!

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party will happen on select nights between August and November, and the event is super popular. This party features exclusive souvenirs, Halloween-themed snacks, Mickey’s Boo To You Parade, and rare character meet-and-greets. It’s a BLAST!

Peter Pan’s Flight Closure ENDS
Peter Pan’s Flight closed on July 8th. This is one of Magic Kingdom’s most popular attractions, and it’s set to reopen in mid-August.

Currently, Disney lists the anticipated reopening date as August 21st, 2024. Until then, expect the ride to be unavailable for several weeks.

Disney did not share the exact reason for this temporary closure, but we expect it has to do with routine maintenance and upkeep. We’ll be sure to look for changes when the ride is back up and running this August!
