Something NEW Arrived at the Canada Pavilion in EPCOT (and You Might Not Like It)😬

Oh, EPCOT. We love you. But sometimes, you drive us a little crazy! We love the World Showcase, but why must we wait until 11AM for things in those pavilions to open?! And when is the Imagination Pavilion going to get its much-needed makeover?

EPCOT

Don’t get us wrong. EPCOT is one of our favorite parks! It’s got some FUN rides, like Soarin’, Living with the Land, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. It’s got AMAZING food, like the pizza at Via Napoli. It’s even got an impressive number of character meet-and-greets — including Anna and Elsa! But recently, we noticed something new pop up in the World Showcase, and, well, we were a little sad about it.

So, here’s the situation. For YEARS, EPCOT has been under construction. BIG sections of the park were closed and walled off to the public. Disney touted an “EPCOT Transformation” that would bring new rides, shops, and experiences to the park.

Well, in early June, the project was completed with the grand opening of CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza. Finally, all the construction walls were GONE! It was glorious.

CommuniCore Hall

As you may remember, many EPCOT fans were NOT happy back when Disney installed barges on the World Showcase Lagoon for the old Harmonious nighttime spectacular. Eventually, Disney removed the barges, and fans could breathe a sigh of relief.

Then, once the final construction walls were removed from World Celebration during the grand opening of CommuniCore Hall, it seemed like EPCOT was finally free of all those pesky, unsightly distractions like construction walls and scaffolding. For five minutes, everything was great.

Then, Disney announced that Test Track would be closed for an extended refurbishment, and we spotted new construction walls in the Canada Pavilion. Suddenly, we were right back where we started.

MORE construction walls?!

What? You thought EPCOT was done with the construction? Think again. Disney hasn’t made any official announcements about what’s going on behind those Canada Pavilion construction walls, but whatever it is, we’re hoping it doesn’t take long.

Go away, walls!

Here’s the thing many people hate about construction walls. First of all, they simply don’t look very nice. But, more importantly, they often block important pathways and cause detours that can add a LOT more steps to your journey!

Construction walls are up at Test Track!

It doesn’t sound like a big deal, but after you’ve walked allllll over Disney World, the thought of having to take the long way can be pretty frustrating. Trust us.

We’re tired of these walls! Anyone else?

If we’re being honest, we know there are worse things than a few odd construction walls. And hey — when they (eventually) come down, EPCOT will look even better! But if you were planning to visit EPCOT and celebrate a wall-free experience, well, we’re sorry to be the ones to break the news.

We LOVE EPCOT!

  1. It’s one thing to endure construction walls when the end result is something like the Fantasyland extension at MK, complete with the Beast’s castle, the Little Mermaid’s section, the Seven Dwarf’s Mine Train, and a complete Dumbo circus area. But with Epcot, the removal of its walls revealed a vast, sterile, concrete, tree-less space to take the place of the wonderful Epcot fountain. And the CommuniCore building looks like a soulless convention hall. I hope they don’t ruin Canada…..their waterfall and Gardens are one of the best places along World Showcase!
