New Queue Details REVEALED For Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disney World

It’s time to GET EXCITED, y’all!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

We can’t believe that we’ll finally – FINALLY —  be riding Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom in just a few short weeks! If you’re unfamiliar, this new Princess and the Frog-themed attraction is replacing Splash Mountain in Frontierland. But don’t worry, thrill seekers. The iconic big drop remains in the new version of the ride. We’ve learned TONS of details about the all-new ride, and we continue to learn more and more as that June 28th opening date gets even closer. We actually just got new details on the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure QUEUE!

In honor of Memorial Day Weekend, Disney shared a few queue details that honor military service members and veterans. Disney said, “Beginning with our founders Walt and Roy O. Disney, and their service to the country during the First World War, the Walt Disney Company has long admired U.S. military service. ”

That admiration will be seen in the queue of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! In Princess and the Frog, Tiana’s dad, James, was a World War I Veteran.

Ted Robledo, executive creative director for Walt Disney Imagineering, said that his team was thrilled to be able to expand James’ story at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in a way that honored veterans! Disney said, “…One of the things that makes Tiana so unique is how relatable her story is. Her mother was an entrepreneurial dress maker, and her father was a decorated veteran.”

“We looked for inspiration for how we could best expand on his backstory in a way that honored the military families who visit our parks,” Ted said. “In creating these photos for the attraction, we were inspired by real photos of soldiers who served during WWI to ensure we got it right.”

Disney continued by explaining that the photos used as a reference for James were those of soldiers who served in 369th Regiment, one of the first African American regiments to serve with the American Expeditionary Forces during World War I. This unit was renowned for its bravery and many members were awarded the prestigious Croix de Guerre medal by the French government for their valiant service in action.

Wow! We can’t wait to see these awesome photos in person. We’ve gotten a few other queue details so far, too! We know that music will float through the queue to make us truly feel like we’re in New Orleans, and the smell of beignets will float through the air. As for the ride itself…

Disney has shared that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will pick up the story of The Princess and the Frog “after the final kiss, and join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.”

So, what exactly DOES happen “after the final kiss”? Well, when the film itself ends, Princess Tiana makes her dream come true when she opens her very own restaurant, Tiana’s Palace (just like the one opening in Disneyland later this year)!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is “Almost… HERE”

The story of the attraction, as Disney shares, picks up during New Orleans’ Carnival season, and Tiana is hosting a Mardi Gras Party for the people of New Orleans — the community that has supported her successful restaurant. (The storyline is set about a year after the movie.)

But Tiana realized that the party is “missing a key ingredient” and she needs help finding it, so YOU will join Tiana, too, as Disney Imagineers have shared that guests will be active participants coming along with Tiana on this adventure! “On Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, we’ll join Tiana and Louis on a trip to the bayou, where they meet all sorts of unexpected new friends who have a special role to play at the party.”

That’s right. Get ready for a Mardi Gras celebration in Frontierland (in Magic Kingdom) and Critter Country (in Disneyland)!

All visitors can experience the new attraction starting June 28th at Disney World. In the meantime, we’ll continue to keep you updated with more Disney news and updates, so make sure to follow along for more.
