UPDATE: Disney World announced that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open on June 28th, 2024.
When Disney first announced that it was closing Splash Mountain and re-theming the ride to become Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, we’ll admit we didn’t really know what to expect.

Since then, though, Disney has been hard at work on the ride in both Disney World and Disneyland and has revealed more about the new story, music, and animatronics. We also have an opening timeline of summer 2024, but that covers several months, so when do we think the ride will actually open in Magic Kingdom?
Let’s take a look at what we know so far.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was originally expected to open later in 2024, but Disney surprised us by revealing it would open this summer. As we continue to follow the construction of the ride in Disney World, we think that opening could be early summer.

One recent clue that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is closer to opening is that the construction walls around the ride have started to come down. This area was once covered up, but now it’s open!

Around the same time, we noticed that the former Splash Mountain gift shop has been covered with a construction wall, so work is going on there, too. It makes sense that the former gift shop would be re-themed, too.

The BIGGEST clue that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure could open soon, though, is that ride testing has started. At first, we just saw empty logs being tested. However, most recently, we’ve seen Imagineers on the ride. Yes, real people are now riding it. That’s a good sign that we could be looking at an early summer opening.

So when will Tiana’s Bayou Adventure open? Well, we expect Disney to announce ride previews soon. While Disney has not shared any official confirmation, many fans think that some recent concept art could hold a clue about the opening date. In fact, some are speculating (and it’s ONLY a theory at this point) that an opening date announcement or even previews of the ride will begin on May 28th (5/28) with an opening date of July 2nd (7/2) due to the 52872 numbers on the license place in this concept art.

Of course, we won’t know for sure until Disney makes an official announcement, so we’ll be looking for that.

Note that the Disneyland version of the ride is a little behind on its construction progress as compared to the Disney World ride, so we still expect that one to open in late 2024. Here’s a look at the status of the ride in Disneyland.
