3 NEW Changes in EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion

We love how unique EPCOT‘s World Showcase is — what other theme park lets you visit counties from all around the world?

Japan Pavilion

There are so many details to see in every pavilion and so many snacks and drinks to try, it can be hard to keep up with everything. But if you haven’t been paying much attention to the Japan Pavilion this year, there are some changes you don’t want to miss!

The Murals

The Japan Pavilion recently installed new murals, and they’re stunning.

New murals

There are three new pieces to look at that all depict different scenes. You’ll want to look closely because there are so many details, it’s easy to miss some.

Beautiful

All of them represent important aspects of Japanese culture, which makes the pavilion feel that much more immersive.

Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya Progress

EPCOT’s newest restaurant, Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya, is also coming along well in the pavilion! In fact, we have an opening date!

We’re Getting Closer!

We’ve been keeping a close eye on this construction because we’re so excited for this sushi bar and grill to open. Back in July, we spotted the sign above the covered construction, but we’ve seen even more updates since.

Private Event

Currently, the restaurant is open for “Private Events” only, but now that we have an official opening date, we can’t wait to check this place out!

Akoya Pearls Reopening

Now technically, this change happened earlier this year, but we’re still going to count it because it was pretty big! After nearly three years of being closed, the popular Akoya Pearls experience reopened in the pavilion.

Akoya Pearls

This experience is where guests can pick a pearl from a real oyster and have it made into jewelry for an additional fee.

Akoya Pearls Demonstration

This is such a unique addition that didn’t return after the 2020 closure until February of 2023. We love that this unique souvenir option is finally back available to guests, and even if you don’t want one yourself, we encourage you to go still to watch the demonstration because it is really cool!
