The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser (or as we like to call it, the Star Wars hotel) is closing later this year. This was a bold endeavor for Disney Imagineers, as the Star Wars hotel was unlike any other Disney hotel. It wasn’t just a place to rest your head at night; it was an experience.
In light of the recent news, many fans are speculating on the future of the Galactic Starcruiser. Will Disney use the space for something else? Demolish the entire building? We don’t know yet! What we do know is that some fans are already preparing for the closure. Let’s talk about it.
Disney recently shared that the final voyage on the Galactic Starcruiser will take place from September 28th to September 30th, 2023.
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser opened on March 1st, 2022. Instead of booking a regular hotel room package, visitors reserved a two-night, immersive “cruise” experience where Disney fully transported guests into the world of Star Wars. Everything — down to the smallest detail — was themed and part of the story.
Now, the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser’s final voyage (on September 28th-30th) is appearing as “Not Available” on the Disney World website.
This could mean that the final voyage has already sold out. Note that new bookings are set to reopen on May 26th for voyages between now and the reported closure date.
We will continue to keep our eyes out for more updates on the Star Wars hotel. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more!
