How To Ride TRON in Disney World With the NEW Park Pass Rule

It’s finally happening!

Annual Passholder

We learned back in February that beginning on April 18th, Annual Passholders would no longer need park pass reservations to enter the parks after 2PM — with the exception of Magic Kingdom on the weekends. This is a BIG deal, as Disney has required all visitors to make advance park pass reservations since the park reopened after the pandemic. We tried it for ourselves, and we’re happy to say that it WORKED!

When we headed into the park, we decided to push our luck a little bit. We decided to see if we could also ride TRON even though we didn’t have a park pass reservation.

TRON Lightcycle / Run

If you didn’t already know, you need a valid park pass reservation to Magic Kingdom to join the virtual queue for TRON. We didn’t have one, so we were unsure if the My Disney Experience app would already pick up on the park entry change for passholders.

We noticed that there were still slots available for the 1PM virtual queue opening, and we decided to give it a shot and see if we could join.

We were able to book TRON!

We were able to successfully join the TRON virtual queue without a park pass reservation! It seems that the Disney World app was successfully updated to reflect these new changes and how they apply to joining virtual queues. This is GREAT news, as we’re one step closer to that Disney World spontaneity we’ve all been missing.
