Getting to EPCOT can be a bit more complicated than it seems.

While some of you might normally hop on a monorail from Disney World’s Transportation and Ticket Center to get to EPCOT, we encountered an unexpected situation recently that made that path unavailable.
Things were already rough at Disney World that day with some gloomy weather and LOTS of ride closures, but things got even more interesting when one of our fantastic reporters tried to make their way to EPCOT. At the time they visited the Transportation and Ticket Center (closer to 11AM ET), the EPCOT monorail was NOT running.

One Cast Member indicated that a train on the EPCOT monorail line had broken down and needed to be towed off the track. Disney then had to wait for the towing machine to return to tow a new monorail train onto the track, according to the Cast Member we spoke to. So it seems there could be quite a delay there in terms of the EPCOT monorail becoming available once again.

But here’s the good news — there were busses running from the Transportation and Ticket Center to EPCOT this morning to ensure that everyone could make it to the park.
So if you’re looking to go from the Transportation and Ticket Center to EPCOT, just note that the monorail may be unavailable when you stop by. If it is still unavailable, look for busses and alternate forms of transportation that may be offered to get you to your destination.

Even if you’re not in Disney World or planning to visit EPCOT when this happens, let this situation serve as an important reminder — unexpected things can happen in Disney World that can totally throw off your plans. If you were running late to a dining reservation in EPCOT or a Lightning Lane return time, a change in plans like this could cause some added stress to your day.
Our advice? Be sure to give yourself a LOT of time to get places when traveling around Disney World (and especially when using Disney World transportation). It’s better to arrive early than to feel the added stress of something going “wrong” when already running a little late.
