Everybody’s Asking Why I Made My Friend Wear a Heart Rate Monitor in Disney World, … And, It’s Complicated

We love a challenge in Disney World!

Let’s go to Disney!

Disney World Challenges seem to be a passion of ours here at AllEars. From sharing our favorite Disney World secrets to showing you how to avoid using your phone all day in the parks to even competing to see who has to sleep outside all night, we are constantly trying new things to find the best tips and tricks for your next Disney vacation. For our latest challenge, I wanted to find the scariest rides in Disney World, but I chose a pretty strange way to do it.

To test Disney World’s scariest rides, I decided my friend Sage and I should wear heart rate monitors to really understand what gets our hearts racing! The first time I tried out this challenge I did it solo in Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios — which you can check out here.

For these challenges, I felt like the only way to truly test how scary rides are was to put our actual hearts to the test. During my first solo attempt, my heart rate was pretty high the entire time, so I knew the next time around that I wanted to bring a friend with me to see if I was just being a scaredy cat, or if these rides were actually pretty nerve-wracking.

Luckily, Sage was up for the challenge! We both put on our heart monitors, made a list of thrilling rides, and headed to the parks! First, we stopped by EPCOT to test out MISSION: Space, Test Track, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

I don’t want to spoil how things went, but I will say the rules for this challenge were pretty simple. We started by testing our resting heart rates before the rides, and whoever had the biggest jump in their heart rate lost that round. The loser for each round had to then get wet! Supposedly, cold water can help lower your heart rate, so we thought that was the best punishment possible.

After our tests in EPCOT, we headed over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom to test the rides there! We rode Expedition Everest, Flight of Passage, Dinosaur, and TriceraTops Spin. The last ride might be intended for the kiddos in your group, but I have a fear of heights so you know we had to test that, too.

While I thought I would lose every single round (because, again, I’m just a scared individual in general) I was very pleasantly surprised by the outcome! If you want to see just who won this challenge, you can watch the video here.

If there are any other rides you’d like to see us test, tell me in the comments below! I’m already thinking about who I should bring with me to Universal when I go to put those rides to the test.

This challenge really helped me understand which rides are actually scary at Disney World versus the ones that I just made myself believe were scary. Don’t forget to keep following AllEars for all of your Disney tips and tricks!
