Disney World’s latest hotel expansion is almost ready for guests.
Construction has reigned at Disney World’s Polynesian Village Hotel for several years. However, the company has finally released the DVC points chart and booking information for the new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Island Tower expansion!
Appropriately enough, the newly released timeline for the Island Tower’s opening begins on October 1st, the 53rd anniversary of the opening of the Polynesian Village Resort (and Walt Disney World as a whole.) Starting on that day, direct sales for the tower begin for current Disney Vacation Club Members.
Two weeks later on October 15th, Current and Add-on DVC Members can begin booking with Vacation Points. Sales then open to the general public on October 29th. Moving into November, the 5th will see new Polynesian Villas & Bungalows Members able to book using Vacation Points, while the 19th will see Vacation Points bookings open up to all members.
All of this is leading to the December 17th full grand opening of the Island Tower.
In addition to the opening timeline, Disney has also released a point chart for the resort, breaking down how many DVC points each level of stay will require.
While Disney hypes the expansion as one that will be “brimming with themed spaces that bring the adventurous spirit of Polynesia to life” which will immerse guests in the “captivating stories and unique cultures of the islands”, the new addition has met criticism from some in the Disney fan community. Many feel that it strays too far from the established theming and aesthetic details that have defined the hotel for the last five decades.
In response, Disney has claimed that the Island Tower takes its design queues from the original 1960s-era plans for a Polynesian-themed hotel for the then-nascent Florida Project that would become Walt Disney World.
Disney has released the timeline and DVC points details for the opening of the new Island Tower at the Polynesian Resort. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on the new expansion.

So wrong….first where are all those people going to go?the parks aren’t crowded enough? It isn’t difficult enough to get ADRs? Not to mention it’s completely out of place with Polynesians long houses….
