Popular Ride Suddenly CLOSES in Disney World

Disney World rides may be fun, but they can often experience issues.

We’ve seen rides be evacuated, suddenly shut down, and unexpectedly have their lights turned on. And today is no exception.

A few rides have temporarily CLOSED in Disney World. As of 12:30PM on March 21st, Slinky Dog Dash (Hollywood Studios) and Test Track (EPCOT), were temporarily CLOSED according to the My Disney Experience app.

When we stopped by Slinky Dog Dash in person, a Cast Member indicated that the ride was closed due to technical difficulties and they did not have an estimated reopening time.

Uh Oh

At first, guests that were already in line were allowed to remain in line but no new guests were allowed in the queue. Later, we saw guests being escorted out of the line at the ride.

UPDATE: As of 1:01PM ET, Slinky Dog Dash has reopened but the following rides have closed: Expedition Everest (Animal Kingdom), Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Magic Kingdom), Test Track (EPCOT), and Toy Story Mania! (Hollywood Studios).

Here’s what to do if a ride suddenly closes during your trip:

  • Check the My Disney Experience app constantly for updates (if a wait time is displayed, you’ll know the ride has likely reopened!)
  • Ask Cast Members outside of the attraction if they know what has happened and if they have a better idea about when the ride might reopen
  • Come up with a plan “B” in case one of your must-do rides unexpectedly closes
  • Mentally prepare little ones for potential closures by discussing the possibility at home
  • Use that closure time to knock other things off of your list, take a break, grab a snack, or otherwise utilize your time in the park!

We’ll keep an eye out for more news so stay tuned for updates!
