PHOTOS: The Walt Disney World Railroad Was Testing Today

Remember the Walt Disney World Railroad?

Walt Disney World Railroad Train “In Residence” at Main Street, U.S.A. Train Station

It seems like it’s been forever (even before Disney World’s closure and reopening two years ago) since we’ve been able to ride on the railroad. We saw the trains being tested earlier this year, and today, we got to see the train testing again!

The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for over three years due to construction being done at Magic Kingdom on the Tron Lightcycle Run attraction. Today, though, we saw testing being done on the Railroad and got to see that iconic steam train rolling along the track.

There it goes!

Last year, we did get an update on the train’s refurbishment, which is why it’s now looking spiffier than ever.

We missed you, Railroad!

Hopefully, today’s testing is a sign that it will reopen again soon, especially now that construction of TRON is well underway — that attraction has also started testing ride vehicles.

We’ll keep an eye on the Walt Disney World Railroad and let you know if we get any more updates or a reopening timeline from Disney. So stay tuned to AllEars for more news.

  1. My money was on the trains going away permanently. Glad I was proved wrong. Hearing the distant train whistle blowing is one of many Magic Kingdom background sounds that you don’t realize you miss.

    1. Agreed!! Really hoping this opens up next week while we’re there for spring break! Unlikely, but still, we’d love to see less people crowding everywhere.
