VIDEO: Rise of the Resistance Now Has a Lightning Lane Sign in Disney World

Starting this fall, Disney World will be switching from FastPass to the Lightning Lane system that will be available on Disney Genie+ or a pay-per-ride format for select popular attractions.

But, many of us have been wondering how that will affect attractions that have virtual queues in the parks moving forward. And, we’ve got an update you’ll want to know about before Lightning Lanes arrive in Disney World soon!

We’ve all quickly tried to refresh our My Disney Experience page during our days in Hollywood Studios, trying to score a Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group. However, you’ll have ANOTHER way to be able to ride the hit attraction in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when Disney Genie debuts.

Rise of the Resistance

During our most recent visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we noticed that there were two signs over the entrance to Rise of the Resistance. One was a new Virtual return queue sign, where those with a boarding group will return.

And the other was a brand new Lightning Lane sign.

Disney has already announced that Rise of the Resistance will be a part of the “Individual Attraction Selection” category, where guests will be able to purchase up to two selections to ride specific popular attractions. While Disney hasn’t announced the pricing yet, there could be surge costs on the horizon on the days and times that are the most busy.

Up until now, guests have only been able to ride Rise of the Resistance once per day, if they snag a Boarding Group (though there have been RARE exceptions we’ve seen it get to Standby). Now, they will have the option to use a free boarding group, or guarantee a spot buy paying for an individual attraction selection.
