UPDATE: The Monorail is now running as normal again!
There are a lot of ways to get around Disney World, and one of the coolest transportation options is the Monorail!
The highway in the sky takes guests between three of the Magic Kingdom Resort hotels and offers transportation between the Transportation and Ticketing Center and Magic Kingdom. Plus, you can even catch a separate ride to EPCOT (though that line has been closed since the parks reopened). But, today guests traveling to the park or resorts won’t be able to catch the Monorail as it is closed.
Currently, both the Express Monorail and the Resort Monorail are closed at Magic Kingdom, the resorts, and the Transportation and Ticketing Center, as the Monorail is not running.
The walkway between Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Contemporary Resort is also closed at this time.
And, when we drove by the road between the Contemporary and the park, we noticed that there were Disney security cars in the area and it looked like something had happened to the bottom portion of the track.
Disney has not shared an update on when the Monorail will reopen, but guests can still get between the Transportation and Ticketing Center and Magic Kingdom using the Ferryboat. And, there is boat transportation and a walking path to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
Guests looking to get to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Contemporary Resort can take bus transportation to the resorts from Magic Kingdom. We will continue to keep an eye out for updates, so stay tuned.
