UPDATE: Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat will reopen on Friday, February 5th, 2021.
Disney World is undergoing quite a few transformations and refurbishments right now!

EPCOT is a maze of construction walls while the theme park prepares for a massive transformation. And, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is getting a new entryway while the guest rooms are receiving a Moana-inspired makeover! To help you plan your week, we’re covering every attraction that is closed for refurbishment between February 2nd through February 7th, 2021.
Animal Kingdom Refurbishment
Kali River Rapids
The weather has cooled down and the crowds have diminished a bit. During the colder winter months, Disney might close water rides down. It gives them a chance to refurbish the rides or shut them down due to low guest attendance.

Right now, Kali River Rapids is closed for refurbishment until April 2nd, 2021. We’ll let you know if this date changes!

Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
You might be following along with our PeopleMover updates and if so, we’re sorry to burst your bubble! The attraction has been closed for almost a year in total. We expected it to reopen in July with the rest of the Magic Kingdom. It ended up on the refurbishment list and the opening date has been pushed back FOUR times now.

Last week, we were hoping it would open on January 30th as planned. It seems our plans have been spoiled again! The closure has been pushed back once again to February 28th, 2021. We’ll see if this opening date sticks this time!

The Hall of Presidents
This show features animatronics of every past and current United States President. The attraction is now closed to prepare and install the new animatronic for President Joe Biden.

The schedule currently plans to have the attraction reopen on April 4th, 2021. This could be an approximate date and it may open sooner or later than scheduled. We’ll let you know as soon as we learn more!

Tom Sawyer Island and Liberty Square Riverboat
We’ve seen the Rivers of America get a lot of work done in the last few months! The river was completely drained while construction was done on Tom Sawyer Island and the riverboat guide rails.

The river has now been refilled and we noticed the building labeled “Harper’s Mill” on the island got a new paint job! Right now, the two attractions affected by the refurbishment are Tom Sawyer Island and Liberty Square Riverboat. The schedule states that both will reopen on February 28th, 2021.

Walt Disney World Railroad
You may notice that massive construction zone in Tomorrowland. This is for the upcoming roller coaster, TRON Lightcycle Run. The construction is currently affecting the train that circles the Magic Kingdom.

It’s unclear when the train will start operating in the future. It could be when the roller coaster is finished in 2022. Or, it may open earlier when the construction is no longer affecting the track. We’ll update you when we learn more about the train’s return!

That’s all the attractions that are closed this week! We’ll be back with more closure and refurbishment updates in the future.
