10 Rides Will Be Closed at Disneyland in July

July is a BIG month for the Disneyland Resort as it celebrates its 70th anniversary.

Although the festivities are underway with special shows, experiences, and more 70th anniversary offerings, the parks still aren’t running at 100%. Refurbishments, closures, and some attractions re-opening or opening for the first time are on the calendar in July — and we’re giving you the full rundown.

This July, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure will have a combined 10 attractions closed at some point. They are as follows:

Disneyland Park

Matterhorn Bobsleds — Closed Throughout July

The Matterhorn Bobsleds attraction closed in May, and its refurbishment timeline has been extended past July.

The Matterhorn closed for refurbishment on May 5th for some lengthy and intense work. It could be a while longer before we hear the screams and laughter coming from the mountain again.

Jerky roller coaster bobsled ride through Matterhorn Mtn., more tight turns than drops. Watch out for the abominable snowman!

 Enchanted Tiki Room — Reopens July 3rd

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room has been closed since April for a multi-month refurbishment — but work is almost complete!

The Tiki Room is reopening on July 3rd with some technical improvements, including touch-ups on its lighting, sound, and show systems.

Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, The Disney Gallery, and Walt Disney — A Magical Life — Multiple Opening Dates in July

Nearly a year after its announcement, Walt Disney — A Magical Life is set to debut on July 17th, 2025.

For the first time ever, guests will be able to see the first-ever Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney in the new show “Walt Disney – A Magical Life,” which will eventually play in rotation with “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” after its initial debut at Disneyland park in 2025.

Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln will join the new show’s rotation, per the Disneyland calendar, on July 18th in the Main Street Opera House.

For the first time ever, guests will be able to see the first-ever Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney in the new show “Walt Disney – A Magical Life,” which will eventually play in rotation with “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” after its initial debut at Disneyland park in 2025.

The Disney Gallery does not yet have an official reopening date.

Star Tours – The Adventures Continue — Closed Throughout July

Star Tours – The Adventures Continue is closing for a lengthy refurbishment starting June 30th.

Some significant work is being done on the ride, as it will remain closed throughout July. A reopening date has not been announced.

Rollicking 3D motion simulator ride with a variety of Star Wars destinations — never the same ride twice!

Main Street Cinema — Closed on July 15th; Reopening on July 17th

The Main Street Cinema will also experience a brief closure in July.

The Cinema will be closed on July 15th and reopen on July 17th, 2025. During the closure, “The Last Verse” from Richard M. Sherman written for “it’s a small world” is being installed.

Storybook Land Canal Boats — Closed on July 21st

Fantasyland is going to have some significant closures in July, as the Storybook Land Canal Boats close for refurbishment on July 21st.

As of this post, no reopening date has been listed.

Gentle boat ride through miniature scenes from Disney movies, such as Elsa's ice palace, the Seven Dwarfs Cottage, Agrabah, and Pinocchio's Village.

Casey Jr. Circus Train — Closed on July 28th

Staying in Fantasyland, Casey Jr. Circus Train is also closing for refurbishment in late July.

This train ride is closing on July 28th, and a reopening date has not been released as of this writing.

Gentle train ride around Storybook Land — be a Monkey or Wild Animal and ride in one of the cage cars.

Redwood Creek Challenge Trail — Closed on July 21st

The Redwood Creek Challenge Trail closes pretty frequently and will do so again in July.

The trail will close on July 21st , and a reopening date has not yet been announced.

Kids' play area, including rock climbing wall, suspension bridges, and a swing from one side to another.

Pixar Pal-A-Round — Closed July 14th; Reopening July 25th

Both the Swinging and Non-Swinging versions of Pixar Pal-A-Round are closing for a good chunk of July.

Disney California Adventure

This Ferris wheel attraction will close on July 14th and reopen on July 25th, 2025.

Ferris wheel with a twist — outer gondolas are stationary, inner cars hang on interior track and move in/out and swing as the wheel turns. Not recommended for those with motion sickness or fear of heights.

Incredicoaster — Closed on July 28th

The super popular Disney California Adventure coaster based on The Incredibles is closing at the end of July for an unknown amount of time.

  1. We have a trip planned for July 30th and are incredibly disappointed to learn of the Incredicoaster closure. Given the issues the ride has experienced recently, it is curious that Disney Parks decided to wait until the end of July.

  2. What a let down ! I was hoping Disney would have everything completed for their July 17th 70th anniversary. Thought they’d plan it out a Little better. I understand regular maintenance is key but knowing you have a huge celabration looming a more accordingly schedule would be paramount.
