It takes a lot of work and energy to keep things running at the theme parks!

Disney World attractions and resorts will often close for scheduled maintenance, routine check-ups, and numerous other reasons. Those of you heading to Disney World might wanna know what rides and other properties are unavailable during your visit. To help out, we’ve listed everything closed for refurbishment between January 25th through January 31st, 2021.
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
The Hall of Presidents
This historical attraction features animatronics of every past and current United States President. The attraction has closed to prepare the installment of the new animatronic for Joe Biden.

Currently, the schedule states that the attraction will remain closed through April 3rd, 2021. This date could change and we’ll keep an eye out for an official reopening date.

Liberty Square Market
The small snack stand in Liberty Square serves snacks like fruits, veggies, and enormous turkey legs. The market is also closed and the refurbishment is set to last through February 1st, 2021.

Those in need of a quick bite in Liberty Square can head over to Sleepy Hollow Refreshments for now!

Tom Sawyer Island and Liberty Square Riverboat
Liberty Square is getting a lot of attention lately! The Rivers of America has been completely drained while construction workers refurbish the surrounding area.

We’ve seen work done on the guide rails for the Liberty Square Riverboat. And, the building named “Harper’s Mill” on Tom Sawyer Island got a new paint job. The work is still trucking along and right now the schedule says that both attractions will last through February 28th, 2021.

Walt Disney World Railroad
The famous Magic Kingdom train is not currently operating while the new TRON Lightcycle Run is under construction in Tomorrowland.

The train could start running when the roller coaster is closer to opening. However, the project was delayed quite a bit and it’s unclear when it will open. We’ll continue to update you on TRON and the train closure in the future!

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
Could this be the week we see the PeopleMover reopen?? As of right now, signs are pointing towards “yes!” (Although, we’ve been tricked in the past!) The attraction was set to reopen way back in July but was put on the refurbishment list instead. The reopening date was pushed back three times since then!

As of this writing, the PeopleMover is scheduled to open on January 30th, 2021. We’re hoping that since the ride was being tested that means that it will actually open this time!

Animal Kingdom Refurbishment
Kali River Rapids
Disney likes to take advantage of the cooler winter months to refurbish water rides. Guest attendance is low for wet rides so it’s an opportune time to schedule a closure. Kali River Rapids is now closed and is set to reopen on April 2nd, 2021.

Those of you who love water rides in the winter can still ride Splash Mountain!

Disney World Resort Refurbishments
Quite a few resorts are already undergoing refurbishments or will be in the future. Disney’s Contemporary Resort will close this April for guest room refurbishments. The Main Tower will be affected by the refurb and as of now, it’s set to continue through September 2021.

Over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, the guest rooms are getting a Moana-inspired makeover! Also, the entryway, lobby, and monorail station are getting a big overhaul and new look! The project is set to wrap up this summer.

A couple of resort pools are getting work done as well. Disney Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will receive a waterslide update and the Big Blue Pool at Disney’s Art of Animation is closed as well.

That’s all the refurbishments scheduled for now! We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more closures and keep you updated!
