Movie theaters have been struggling at the moment with decisions to either delay re-opening or open without blockbuster movies on the big screen.

Since many film studios have started to reconfigure their release schedules, movie theaters are left with only a few new titles to play at the moment. However, the current health crisis has made it difficult for the film industry to set firm plans for release dates or theater re-openings.

The Wall Street Journal has reported that, due to this situation, Cineworld could be shutting down 543 of its Regal Cinema movie theaters in the U.S. and all theaters across the U.K. and Ireland this week. Regal Theaters have only been open since the end of August, causing the closures to come just under two months of the venues being re-opened.

Much of the reason that Cineworld has considered closing again is due to the fact that theaters in Los Angeles and New York City haven’t re-opened yet. Since many of the biggest markets haven’t been open, blockbuster movies have also started rescheduling their release dates.

Most recently, the upcoming James Bond movie No Time to Die has bumped its debut from November 2020 to April of next year. Disney has also shifted many of its slated films, including Black Widow‘s move from November 2020 to May 2021 instead.
