Here are some pictures I took of Rick Springfield in concert Thursday evening. For those of you who don’t know Rick Springfield, he is an 80’s pop rock singer who besides being a singer and songwriter is also an actor. Rick appeared on General Hospital, off and on, for a number of years as Dr. Noah Drake. As a singer, some of his hit songs were: Love Somebody, I’ve Done Everything For You, Human Touch, Don’t Talk To Strangers and one of my all time favorites: Jessie’s Girl.
My wife and I stayed for all three concerts. Rick only changed up one of the songs from set to set. All of Rick’s concerts were standing room only and the lines waiting to get into each concert were some of the largest I’ve seen during the Eat to the Beat concerts. (I did not get to see Hanson or Boyz II Men but understand their crowds were just as big.) Anyway, Rick is a high-energy performer and a great showman. During “Don’t Talk To Strangers” he selected guests to sing and at each show brought young children up onto the stage to sing. He even got a couple of reluctant Cast Members to sing and dance. Very funny stuff! And Rick took his life in his hands as he roamed all over the America Garden Theater while he sang “Human Touch”. He was chased all over the theater by screaming fans!

NOTE: For a number of reasons I am not able to blog on all of the Eat To The Beat concerts this year. However, I had hoped that I could post a couple of videos for you to enjoy of the performers whose concerts that I was able to attend. I was able to do that for both the Taylor Dayne and Kool & The Gang concerts. Unfortunately, it’s looking more and more like Disney has banned videotaping at Epcot concerts. An announcement to that effect is being made before each performance. Although many in the audience ignored that request I didn’t. If they say no videotaping then I respect that request and will only take pictures.

I took my daughter to see Rick at Epcot. We saw the first two shows the first night and the first show the second night. The lines definatly grew longer with each show, I’m assuming as the buzz got around that it was a great show. We loved it and wouldn’t have missed it for the world!! I hope he becomes a Disney regular. Very family friendly and thrilling for fans in such a small venue.
Thanks for the awesome pix! I saw Rick in concert when I was in junior high. Now, I’m 41. He still looks good. I just bought his book to read on the plane ride down to Orlando. I will be back at the World on the 28th. 🙂
Gail, I was at that show! That kid was so cute! I hope your friend got good video of that. I am not a Rick Springfield fan. I don’t dislike him either. But I thought he put on a great show, and I really liked the way he interacted with the crowd. For me this was more like Disney performances (like World Showcase Players, etc.) which fit quite nicely.
Was at all his shows Wed & Thurs and they were all amazing!!! My friend’s 4 year old son got to go onstage thurs nite during the 1st show and sing with him. Thanks so much for posting a positive review of the shows!! I have to agree that the lines were definitely longer for Rick than anybody else and since I have been a fan for 29 years, I am not surprised!!
mike ! had high expections for this show BUT 4 songs in 45 minutes. my fav song of his is dont talk to strangers . and of course that is when he gets the fans & kids involved. cute but not 10 min of it.just one mans opinon. keep up the good work.
