3 Things I’ll Never Buy Again in EPCOT’s Norway Pavilion

Norway is one of the most visually stunning stops in World Showcase, and the shopping there genuinely has a lot going for it.

Norway Pavilion

The pavilion leans into its Scandinavian identity with merchandise that feels thoughtful and distinct from the rest of EPCOT. But after several visits and a few regrettable purchases, I’ve learned that “pretty in the store” doesn’t always mean “worth it in real life.” Here are three things I’ve stopped buying in Norway, plus one honorable mention that’s been catching my eye lately for all the wrong reasons.

The Perfumes

Norway’s shop carries a selection of Nordic-inspired perfumes that smell absolutely incredible in the bottle.

The problem is that “incredible in the bottle” can quickly become “overwhelming on your skin.” Several of these fragrances are intensely potent, and I’ve walked away from the pavilion more than once with a headache that no amount of fresh air could shake. If you have any sensitivity to strong scents, consider this your warning label.

The Body Washes and Scented Products

This one is basically an extension of the perfume problem. The body washes and scented bath products in Norway can sometimes carry that same heavy, lingering quality.

You’d think using just a small amount would keep things manageable, but these formulas can be seriously concentrated. A little goes a long, long way, and “a long way” in this case means the scent sticks around well after you’ve rinsed off. If you love a subtle, fading fragrance, these products are going to frustrate you.

The Winter Coats

Okay, I want to be fair here: the outerwear sold in Norway is genuinely well-made. The quality is real, and you can tell these aren’t cheap souvenir-shop pieces.

But here’s the thing. You are in Florida. In a theme park. Where it is almost certainly warm, possibly scorching, and you have miles of walking ahead of you. Buying a heavy winter coat mid-vacation, then lugging it around EPCOT for the rest of the day, is a logistical headache that no amount of Scandinavian craftsmanship can fix. Save yourself the trouble and order one online when you’re actually back home and cold. Or plan to snag it at the end of the night or the end of your trip.

Honorable Mention: The Beer Steins

Norway has been stocking some truly gorgeous beer Steins lately. They’re detailed, they’re decorative, and they genuinely look like something you’d see in a Nordic gift shop. I get the appeal. But these are heavy, breakable, and take up serious suitcase space. Unless you’ve got a dedicated Stein collection at home and a very forgiving carry-on situation, this is one impulse buy that’s better admired than purchased.

At the end of the day, Norway is worth exploring, and the shopping there is more interesting than most pavilions. You just have to go in with a game plan.
