It’s hard to beat soaring through space on Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom, saving the galaxy on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT, admiring all the animals on Kilimanjaro Safaris in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, or visiting Hogwarts on Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.
However, even a tagline of the Most Magical Place on Earth doesn’t save theme parks from injuries that happen on attractions. The major theme parks in Orlando, including Disney World, Universal, and SeaWorld, are all required to self-report serious injuries on rides where visitors are injured on an attraction and must be hospitalized for at least 24 hours. Each quarter, a MOU Exempt Facilities Report outlines all the injuries reported in the previous quarter. We’re looking at the ride injuries reported so far in 2026.
We now have all the data about ride injuries that happened in January through March of 2026. In total, 12 injuries were reported at Disney World, Universal, and SeaWorld during Q1. Keep in mind that those are only serious injuries that required hospitalization for at least 24 hours. Of course, there were likely additional injuries that happened that didn’t require 24 hours of hospitalization.
8 different attractions were listed in the report, with no more than three injuries reported per ride:
- Hogwarts Express: 3
- Kali River Rapids: 1
- Prince Charming Regal Carrousel: 1
- Jurassic World VelociCoaster: 1
- Donkey Kong Mine Cart Madness: 1
- Fast & Furious Supercharged: 1
- Jimmy Fallon’s Race Through New York: 1
- Tot Tiki Reef: 1
You may be wondering what types of injuries occurred, so we wanted to highlight the most common ones. Of the 12 injuries that were reported, these are the most common:
- Stroke symptoms: 3
- Nausea: 2
- Dizziness: 2
- Chest pains: 2
- Injury while entering/exiting attraction: 1
- Seizure: 1
- Syncope: 1
Injuries can happen at any attraction, and it is important to be cautious. Make sure you are reading warning signs before you get on a ride and know your body’s limitations. 40% of injuries in Q1 were due to preexisting conditions. Although all injuries can’t be prevented, it never hurts to be prepared and cautious to limit injuries.
