Magic Kingdom is a bit chaotic right now. The park is going through some major construction, as part of Frontierland gets turned into a new Cars expansion called Piston Peak, a new Villains-themed land gets put in behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (which is also getting a major update), and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is closed for a huge refurbishment.

In all that chaos, we’ve been trying to figure out what’s going on with two spots in Frontierland, a dining kiosk and a shop. Well, we’ve still got questions, and we’ll tell you why.
We previously noticed that Disney had filed a permit for Westward Ho, Big Al’s, and the Frontierland churro cart, that suggests that both spots could be closing soon. Well, we just recently noticed a big change on the Disney World map in the My Disney Experience app and on the website. The little building representing Westward Ho on the map is gone. Now, technically, you can still see Westward Ho’s location on the map, but the building representing that location is no longer there.

We also noticed the same thing with Big Al’s. The little building representing it on the map is gone.

To see what we’re talking about, here’s what you see with Golden Oak Outpost on the map. The location is marked, but it also has a building on the map representing it.

We have spoken to Cast Members about the situation. At Westward Ho, we were told they weren’t given a closing date, but that they heard that the list of locations for trainers was updated recently and that Westward Ho was removed from the list. We got a similar response from Cast Members at Big Al’s, who told us that they’ve started moving merchandise from there to Frontier Trading Post.
However, Disney has not yet confirmed any kind of closures for these locations, so we’re still not 100% sure what’s happening just yet. But it’s a safe bet to assume both locations will be closing to make way for something that will fit in with the new Cars land going into Frontierland.

We’ll keep an eye out for more updates on everything happening in Magic Kingdom, so check back with AllEars again soon for more.
